MOSCOW, - A Russian TV station said it has dismissed a news anchor for flipping the bird while reading an item about U.S. President Barack Obama.
REN TV said it dismissed anchor Tatiana Limanova after she made the obscene gesture while saying the president's name during a Nov. 14 story about the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.
However, officials with the TV station said Limanova's gesture was not aimed at Obama but rather at "editorial staff" colleagues who were attempting to distract her from off-camera.
"This does not diminish her guilt and cannot be considered an excuse. The REN TV management views this action as the gravest violation of on-air discipline and a demonstration of unprofessionalism," the station said in a statement.

It happens:
Vice President Nelson Rockefeller appeals to the younger voters at this 1976 rally for Bob Dole (in bkgd.)
When George Bush was Governor of Texas he gave the camera a "One-Fingered Salute" before going on the air. While Bush may not have been the Commander-in-Chief at the time, this video is historically significant because the highest ranking U.S. official caught flipping someone off previously was Vice-President Nelson Rockefeller. Mr. Rockefeller was thought to be in the first stages of dementia at the time and died two years later. The same thing could be argued about Bush, but two years later he was made President.
And of course, the bird is flipped in every picture ever taken of any group of guys in the military...except maybe the Air Force...
heh heh heh

I don’t know whether VP Rockefeller “was in the throes of dementia,” I doubt it, because he was having a second helping of Megan Marshak, a 27-year-old research assistant. One version said Rocky had a massive heart attack and she was pinned under him. The way I heard it, she was astride him and attired in cowgirl boots and hat.
This being the mid-1970s, she didn’t need implants and he didn’t need Viagra.

I'd love to see her on FOX. She might have a hard time keeping up with their stable of "News Babes" perhaps, and would have to learn to keep her legs crossed at all times - but it could be interesting. Of course she'd have to be able to do the news in English, but I'll bet she'd be a corker if she can.

I wonder if anyone has started a Tatiana fan club for her?

You know, Tatiana strikes me as being the kind of gal who could probably bite the head off of a ten-penny nail and spit it clean through a three-quarter inch piece of plywood.
Not a lady to be trifled with lightly.
We could use a few more women like her here in America, IMHO.

We’re dating ourselves if we remember the “Rocky the Flying Squirrel” cartoons with Bullwinkle the Moose and their nemesis Boris Badenov and his cohort Natasha.
They were hoots; I loved them as a kid and it was even funny for adults. Lots of hidden political / cold war commentary and double entendre’ back when they could get away with it.
I can see Tatiana dressed in black like Natasha giving the news from Russia segment - reporting on vodka futures and the potato commodity market from the Ukraine for instance.
Maybe she can get us a good interview with Putin?

I bet she’s a real hoot when she’s got a good stiff charge of Russian Vodka on board!
Gotta wonder if she had a hit or two prior to that broadcast, seeing as she didn’t seem all that “inhibited”.
