Was JB a marxist president pandering to a crowd of patriots that work for a living?
I actually heard portions of Brown's appearance on the Opry that night. He was out of his element since his performance was not tailored one bit to the country genre. The Pointer Sisters had guests of the Opry a few years earlier and were well-received since their hit "Fairytale" had some country riffs and a steel guitar lead.
Toward the end of the 1970's, Porter Wagoner released a few very forgettable disco (yes, DISCO) songs. He went back to the straight and narrow, becoming an iconic figure for country music when the Nashville Network reached its zenith.
