Heath and Deborah Campbell, the New Jersey parents of three children with Nazi-inspired names, lost custody of their fourth child 17 hours after he was born, the Express-Times of Lehigh Valley, Pa., reported.
Hons Campbell was taken into custody by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services late Thursday night after the doctor who delivered the baby called the agency, the paper reported.
Theres no legal binding court order. Its basically a kidnapping, but they use different terms, Heath Campbell told the Express-Times.
The Campbell family stepped into the spotlight in December 2008 when a ShopRite grovery store declined to decorate a birthday cake for their son Adolf Hitler Campbells third birthday.
The state took custody of Adolf, along with his sisters JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Himler Jeannie Campbell, in January of 2009. The three children have remained in foster care ever since.
A DYFS spokesperson told ABCNews.com in 2009 that she could not comment on a specific case, but said children are only taken into custody if there is a suspicion of abuse or neglect.
We would never remove a child simply based on their name, the spokeswoman said.

Actually, “thought crime” was hasty. Still, I’m against it. Sending my kid to school wearing a yarmulke would also put him/her in harm’s way - more so, in fact. Neither is a reason for the state to take a child away from it’s parents.
you have a point there
Who decides what an appropos?
In Chastity’s case, the name wasn’t the problem.
Deliberately allowing a child molester to molest your child is the problem.
I doubt if Chaz would have rejected his gender had that not happened.
“The parents could be the most loving people in the world, but theyve set their kids up to get a daily ass kicking wherever they go.”
Not if the kid doesn’t use his MIDDLE name of Hitler.
It’s not his ‘last name’..
Adolf Campbell just doesn’t seem very threatening to me.
I’m not agreeing that the parents didn’t make a stupid decision by giving him the middle name of Hitler.
But I don’t see it as a problem if it’s not used.
Unfortunately, like it or not, society is going to have a say, whether it be in daily beatings delivered by bullies or the more subtle peer pressure of pushing a person into a lower social standing because he contains a quality that causes him to not quite fit in.
Besides.
With the name Adolf Hitler (Campbell)..he’d fit right in with the “Occupy” crowd with no problem.
I know what you’re saying and, ideally speaking I agree with you, people should be free to be whom they are, free from harassment and threats just for being.
But that is not how society works, even in Jewish circles. :)
How about ‘Moon ZAPA’...
Now there’s a name to kick about..
:|
That is probably where the family belongs, I agree.
Unfortunately, most school forms require the middle name.
Even if just giving the middle initial, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the H stands for.
Henry?
Really..
My name is Paul B. T.
What’s my middle name? (the B.)
If you can figure it out. Then you’re a genius.
If not, then what does that make you?
You decide.
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do! Now your gonna die!!"
This is despicable. How many “Joseph Stalins” are there out there? This is government gone mad.
By the time this baby is old enough to be a target I wonder how many of his peers will know who Adolph Hitler was? I say that only somewhat sarcastically considering the way history is being taught (or not?) in our schools.
I think they are nuts to name their children the way they did, but naming children crazy names seems to be a fad in recent years. I would also be willing to bet there is more to the story of why this baby was taken away from them. May not have had anything to do with the name other than the attention they brought on themselves by doing it- the attention may have led to other issues with their parenting coming to light. I would not expect anyone that chose names like this to be model parents in other ways.
Sure.
A six year old child knowing to not say what his middle initial is, when asked by an authority figure or somebody in the classroom.
I’ve been through the public school system, good sir. Once you become marked for failure, the system will see that it comes to fruition.
Tell everybody your name is Buck and fight dirty. Just remind everybody that they’re going to get filthy and you like it.
I went all through ‘public school’ as well and my middle name never came up.
And I never heard anyone elses middle name come up either.
You are putting too much of your ‘emotion’ into the naming of this child then the general public would because you KNOW what his middle name is.
“Once you become marked for failure, the system will see that it comes to fruition.”
That’s utter baloney.
Your name would not ‘mark you for failure’, but your ‘actions’ will.
Of course. You’ve already decided that this kid is going to fail based on your own biased opinions.
Hopefully, he never runs in to people like you as he grows.
Scientists have never determined that having the middle name of ‘Hitler’ leads to a lifetime of trouble and misery.
However, numerous studies have shown that the middle name of ‘Wayne’ or ‘Dwayne’ almost in every case leads to a life of crime.
So there!
You’re right.
I’ve been through the system and know exactly what it is like when virtually every student and every teacher is against your success.
I do have experience on that end of it, for sure.
