When political royalty weds fashion royalty, the expectations of grandeur are high.
But when Lauren Bush, niece of former President George W. Bush and granddaughter of former President George H.W. Bush, married David Lauren, youngest son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, they decided to make everything a little more down-home and country.
That's not to say that the event wasn't the epitome of fashion and luxury, as the newly-wed couple described their rustic affair to Vogue.
David described the event like 'a beautiful movie... like you were riding across the old west and you stopped in at a wedding'.
The couple certainly dressed the part, with Lauren, 27, wearing a long-sleeved embellished dress with tulle, lace and crystals. The look was completed with a headpiece around her forehead and a long veil.

I knew a Fay Fay.
Omigosh What a beautiful wedding photo. They look like a couple from 1920, or maybe 1875, considering the length of the groom’s hair. They are a breaathtakingly handsome couple. The photographer must have had a fan on them to make the veil furl out like that.
Could you go start a Bush-bashing thread and leave this couple’s wedding thread alone?
I am going to see if i can find a long coat for my tux. They are fairly common here and i have always wanted one for the high formal events.
Wonder if he was packing a .45 wheelgun to complete the formal look?
Sounds like a nice Christmas present for yourself. : )
They are mentioned in the Vogue article.
The brides father, Neil Bush, who attended with his second wife, Maria, tweeted, Lauren will marry David Lauren a very good man. Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia escorted Sharon Bush, the brides mother. Both parents stood under the chuppah along with their other children, Ashley and Pierce, joining Ralph and Ricky Lauren with theirs, Andrew and Dylan.
She did not convert according to the Vogue article but did take classes so she understands her husband’s religion. She says his religion is important to him.
I've never had the chutzpah to stand under a chuppah!
Heh, I have two first names.. or two last names. Take your pick.
(That is I know people with my first name as a last name, and my last name is more common as a first name. )
She is going by Lauren Bush Lauren.
I don’t blame her. I’d keep the Bush in the middle, too.
That dress reminds me of my mom’s wedding dress. Only my mother’s was not flared in the skirt. Yet very similar.
Yup. That sounds like a great idea.
I was about to say/write the same thing.
If I were going to be hitting that I'd have a cocky grin on my face, too.
Is anyone else sick to death of the cliche of strappless wedding dresses that make a nice girl look like a Playboy bunny?
Lauren Lauren seems good to me.
