One Long Island professor might have what it takes to play for the Jets.
A criminal-justice instructor at Long Island University’s C.W. Post campus bizarrely blasted himself in the leg with a gun outside of his classroom, which was packed with students, cops said yesterday.
Jack Carney, 72, a former New York City fire inspector, was about to give a test at 7:56 a.m. yesterday when he left the classroom and, in an instant, inadvertently pulled a Plaxico Burress.

Yikes - I’d hate to have to take a test where there are firearms involved.
Fortunately the off-duty officer hadn’t left campus — his daughter told him what happened and he rushed to the classroom.
By that time, Carney had once again exited the class so he could unload the weapon, which the off-duty officer seized when he arrived, Smith said.

As a former professor, I will admit to occasionally wanting to shoot myself “accidentally” too - but it was usually when I was grading the tests, not giving the tests.
I hope he gets two years like Plaxico unfairly did.
I hope Nanny Bloomberg promises to “make an example” out of this Prof. like he did with Burress.
Michael Vick killed dogs, but only served modest prison time for racketeering.
Burress did two years for carrying a gun, his right under The Constitution.
I think the guy could use a doctor more than an off duty cop to seize the weapon
I like to think Plaxico got two years for stupidity. Holsters have a place in our wardrobe. Failure to use one could get you hard time and a wound.
A great many police be they active or retired, are absolutely clueless when it comes to firearms.
Typically they get less range time than civillian shooters who carry regularly.

My dad is retired LE and he scares the crap outta me when he handles firearms in my presence. No muzzle awareness whatsoever.
