last i heard, about 10.
2. how many by catholic priests?
about 40 priests from what i remember. number of kids? unknown
3. how many by public school teachers and assistants?
about 700 teachers and assistants are dismissed EVERY YEAR from US schools for molesting kids. number of kids? unknown
the number of kids molested by teachers and their assistants is much, much higher then either of the first two ... yet the church and now penn state are vilified FAR more then school teachers ever are
why do you suppose that is? could it be an alignment with a certain political party?

You’re numbers aren’t even close. Tens of thousands of children have been raped at the hands of thousands of Catholic clergy.
The John Jay report, which only covers US cases from 1950 to 2002, identified 10,667 allegations against 4,392 priests.
That’s only in the U.S. and doesn’t include cases like Rev. Murphy, 200+ abused, which were discovered after the report was published!
Include Europe and you can double that number!

The reason Sandusky and the priests are more vilified is because they’re tied to more publicly known institutions. Some random high school teacher at some random high school nobody’s ever heard of remains a basically anonymous person. Sandusky was one of the best known assistant coaches in college sports, attached to one of the best known schools and best known head coaches; and everybody knows what the Catholic Church is. The higher profile the institution the higher profile the case will be.
