I find the fact that a vintage Webcore WIRE recorder is pictured far more interesting than the topic of the article ;-)
Had one as a kid, found out that tying the wire in a knot was not a very good splicing method ;-)
We had one before we got the new-fangled Pentron which actually used that ultra-modern innovation: acetate-backed TAPE! :-)
We have one. What an interesting machine, except when that wire flipped off the reel.
Got it an estate sale, with a huge box of reels. Some woman was giving lectures about baby boomers (these lectures from are 1948). Her take on what was to come from this “group” was fascinating. Don’t know if she was a teacher or politician, all she did was state her name and date of the lecture and then started talking.
Which I could figure out where to put them on CDs.
