Word For The Day,Monday, 11/14/11
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
verisimilitude; noun
1.the appearance or semblance of truth; likelihood; probability: The play lacked verisimilitude. 2.something, as an assertion, having merely the appearance of truth.
Etymology: 15951605; < Latin vērīsimilitūdō,equivalent to vērī(genitive singular of vērumtruth) + similitūdōsimilitude
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
I guess there was no verisimilitude to the stories of Larry Sinclair being dead, since they appear to have been pulled from FR.

No pushing at the door please!
Good Morning!
The verisimilitude of Gloria Aldred’s claims is sorely lacking.
she is a sleazebag beyond belief. A+++
I have no idea what is up with some of the Sandusky apologists here on FR. (OK, so there are, maybe 2) Despite the verisimilitude of the grand jury report, they are asserting that this is a media-driven story. I’m sorry, but this bears no resemblance whatsoever to the Duke Lacrosse story and the rush to judgment.
A+++ may its days be numbered.
Sadly, most of journalism is verisimilitude, just like propaganda.
OMG there are Sandusky apologists???? A+++
The Pearly Gates
When Obama died, George Washington met him at the Pearly Gates. He slapped him across the face and yelled, “How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive?”
Patrick Henry approached, punched him in the nose and shouted, “You wanted to end our liberties but you failed.”
James Madison followed, kicked him in the groin and said, “This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!”
Thomas Jefferson was next, beat Obama with a long cane and snarled, “It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence .”
The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans unleashed their anger on the radical, socialist, leader.
As Obama lay bleeding and in pain, an Angel appeared. Obama wept and said, “This is not what you promised me.”
The Angel replied, “I told you there would be 72 VIRGINIANS waiting for you in Heaven. “What did you think I said...You really need to listen when someone is trying to tell you something!”
true, it’s an abomination. A+++
I am capable of verisimilitude, but it’s quite an effort.
I may be developing an allergy to truthiness.
hilarious!
A+ well let’s not tell truthy that!
Could you call a con man a verisimilidude?
A good weekend for football. The Stillers return to the top, beating the Bungles while the Ravens lose to Seattle.
Pitt returns to mediocrity at 5-5, still with a more-than-theoretical chance of winning the Big East.
And my Jayhawks advanced to the semifinals. They’ll play Friday for a trip to Heniz Field.
Every time he opens his mouth, nobama exhibits a complete lack of verisimilitude.
Where’s HENIZ field? HA, out-pedanting a pedant!
Not to be confused with verisimilication which is a physical condition caused by too many face lifts.
A+++ he’s a disgrace.
i hope we are all feeling that next Nov! A+++
