I'm trying to find the first thread where a poster put up a document claiming G.W. Bush was either AWOL or refused an Order.
It was during the time the Swift Boat Navy Seamen were exposing Kerry for the fraud he was, and were speaking against Kerry.
Can anyone provide me with the link where Free Republic proved that it was a Word Document and a fraud?
BushGuard august1 memo -— search for that as ‘title’ I have it on my favorites.
Do a user search on Buckhead. He’s still posting, just post a request to him or Freepmail him.
“The first known posting came on the hotly conservative Free Republic site at 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 8 — less than four hours after the story aired — from a man dubbed Buckhead.”

You really have to have seen a live thread unwind in real time to appreciate the beauty of it. TankerKC’s real-time comment lit the fuse. That’s the thing about a live thread; you have an eclectic collection of subject-matter expects, better than any focus group the MSM could pull into a conference room and they are right on top of anything that looks out of kilter. Eventually the right expert, Buckhead in this case, connects the dots and voila, news is made.
Yup! That’s the one!

In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing, and typewriters used monospaced fonts.
The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90's. Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn't used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang systems that were dominant in the mid 80's used monospaced fonts.
I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old.
This should be pursued aggressively.
Brings chills! It was an awesome time.
I don’t know, Yosemitest. Did you have a secondary account on Free Republic at that time? I’ve looked through your comment history and this is the September/October 2004 timeframe:

I don’t see the comment you are referring to.

Back then we brought possibly relevant information to bear on a topic because we'd learned that sometimes it turns out to be KEY TO A MAJOR DISCOVERY.
The key is with the url number: ...index?more=22892953
I just kept decreasing the first number in the url link associated with your posts and comments until I got close to the 2004 time frame. Then, I fine tuned the other digits in the url number until I hit upon a number that encompassed the September 2004 time frame.
Back in the 1980s and early 1990s, I was what you might call a hacker. Got busted. Stopped hacking. Er... Sort of stopped. ;)
Cheers
One of MY favorites, we debunked ALOT!
Some people found themselves with an important opportunity to serve and then did so. And in so doing they exposed others who were enthusiastically doing the devil's work.
May we recognize our opportunities and act as wisely.
