I think many people are taking this way too seriously!
Shoes are for fun - I that’s why they’re called “accessories” - and even the wearer of a 5-inch heel probably only does so on limited occasions (although in practice this may mean going to work in them every day for the 3 or 4 months that they remain in fashion). But it’s NO BIG DEAL!
And I don’t think it says a thing about one’s morality. Probably most of the females at OWS have never worn a high heel in their lives, but that sure doesn’t make them moral in any way, not even sexually, judging by the diseases that seem to be thriving down at Zuccotti Park.
As for health, obviously, that depends on the person. Somebody who wears high heels of the right size and is in reasonably good shape otherwise should be just fine. One of the causes of the bunions of our mothers and grandmothers is that women refused to wear shoes of the right size because having a small foot was thought to be a sign of - well, I don’t know what, but apparently it was a good thing...
Well, I consider it a personal decision. If you want to wear the, fine. If not, fine. The world is big enough for all of us.
No they're not - they're called 'shoes'.
"And I dont think it says a thing about ones morality."
Neither do I, per say, but I think towering heels have earned the label "stripper heels" for a reason.
You kid yourself. I have a friend who owns dozens of pairs of these shoes. She wears them to work every day. And she’s in her 50’s just like me. I think it’s ridiculous.
“... having a small foot was thought to be a sign of... I don’t know what”.
Do you want to know what? It’s an old myth but if you truly want to know... I will tell you.
