took my dogs out for their morning constitutional a week or so ago and my mini dachsund was attacked by a red tailed hawk. scrappy was entirely too slick for the big bird though
It’s a jungle out there;)
Visiting in suburban Maryland I learned there are coyotes, foxes, bald eagles, large & small hawks, raccoons, skunks, ground-hogs and the worst predators of all: DemocRATS!!!
We have redtailed hawks living downtown here in Columbia SC. After eons of shunning human habitations the raptor species finally discovered that cities contain a concentrated inexhaustible food supply: pigeons and squirrels.
And size doesn’t dissuade them. I was walking through a park when I realized I was being watched; I looked up at an oak branch maybe twenty feet away and there was a hawk. His yellow eyes were fixed on me like I was his next breakfast!
