wasp spray is supposed to be good. Of course the followup might need to be something like a baseball bat rather than a fly swatter.

Wasp spray is an excellent deterrent, but never seen it other than a full size can. If they make it in a pocket size, please let me know. Although, if not careful, it could come back to you.

I know of some women who carry a small nasal spray squeeze bottle, full of household ammonia.
