Self-defense Devices Other Than Guns

Things are getting dicey. While some States allow gun open carry and others allow concealed or both, many good folks just don't want to have to carry all the time.

While I wish all good citizens would carry, here is an alternative for those who still would defend themselves and those innocents around them.

Thank you for the respect...much appreciated.

Think nothing of it. You and I probably had many of the same types of growing experiences in the big city gritty.

Where did you hail from? I grew up in Gardena...

My siblings and I were Army brats until late '66, when my parents divorced. Mom got the kids and the house in Compton. I was 13 at the time. I probably don't have to tell you that the next six or seven years of my life were 'interesting', to say the least.

Tell you what.....to this very day, I've got a degree of situational awareness that is far above normal. Spending my teen years in that environment gave me survival instincts like a jungle cat.

Are you old enough to remember cruising Hawthorne Blvd. all the way up to the Whitchstand (sp)?

I knew about cruising Hawthorne Blvd, but my neighborhood set cruised Central and Rosecrans on weekends. When I finally got my first set of wheels around '71, I'd lost interest in the lowrider cruising in the neighborhood. I spent a lot more weekend nights on the Sunset Strip, hanging out in the head shops and 'expanding' my mind.

...check out the site. Good stuff for the those who can’t defend themselves due to old age or being a smaller female. My wife has one and feels very secure having it.

Will do. Thanks for posting the link again. I'm actually more interested in this for my teenagers. They're not old enough to legally carry a firearm, but I want them to have some form of protection, nonetheless.

As far as how fast a person can arm themselves with the Blast Knuckles, it's still pretty slow compared to my S&W .40 cal, which is designed for concealed carry, and doesn't have a safety to slow you down. Instead, it's got a stiffer than normal trigger pull to help prevent accidental discharges. I love that thing.

I'll check the site. Many thanks.

"Very good. I’m going to replace my wife’s pepper spray with a pepper gel. She also has a “Knuckle Blaster”, but better to be off from an attacker and use the gel. Thanks."

You're welcome Navy Vet and I think you will be happy with their product.

If you wanted to test it out there is a version of the gel without the LED light that the one in my link has. Pretty sure it functions exactly the same as the "night" version so you may as well save yourself the 10 bucks.

And most importantly - I sincerely hope she never ever has to actually use it.

And it works...just as you describe!

I used it on a cop who pulled me over, late one night. It works as advertised. :)
