Staying out all winter in crowded close quarters, or in this case, forced indoors with long-time unhealthy homeless people. Cough, cough. The TB isn’t much of a surprise. The drug resistance of the strains is more modern—probably a mix of HIV incubators and illegals bringing that in. A real public health hazard.
When I contracted atypical TB, 40 years ago, I was forced into a locked ward at Milwaukee County General. 9 months! They finally figured out that it was atypical, non-contagious, and that I probably had gotten it when I split up my overcrowded Lily bed.
