Just curious about that particular sequence in Raiders - if the fire is hot enough to melt human flesh, why does this fellow’s hat remain unscathed?

“Marion, don’t look at it. Shut your eyes, Marion. Don’t look at it, no matter what happens!”

The LORD of The Bible does and will consume away the wicked even as your pictures show:

Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Psa 58:7 Let them melt away as waters [which] run continually: [when] he bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

Psa 112:10 The wicked shall see [it], and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Eze 22:20 [As] they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt [it]; so will I gather [you] in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave [you there], and melt you.
