Sandusky was THE #1 defensive coach in the nation in his peak. Someone brought up the suggestion that he word was put out at the time of his retirement such that no other college was interested in making him an offer? If we had more on this, we could include all the coaches in the NCAA on the list?

Ah, very interesting angle. Sandusky, 55 at the time...would have still been considered a "prime" head coach candidate. Yet he "retired."

He could have gone elsewhere.

As I've said elsewhere, this has all the "marks" of a "coerced" retirement..."Retire or else."

A limited circle knew about the '98 stuff involving Sandusky. I would think it had to include the AD, Asst AD, VP, Prez, Paterno, & perhaps some asst coaches.
