Sandusky "distraught" over Paterno retirement, developments at Penn State
Centre Daily Times ^ | Nov 9, 2011 | Kevin Cirilli

Posted on 11/09/2011 3:05:27 PM PST by Second Amendment First

The attorney representing former Penn State coach and The Second Mile founder, Jerry Sandusky, said his client learned of Coach Joe Paterno’s announcement he will retire, and is “distraught” over the latest developments at Penn State.

While Sandusky maintains he is innocent, “he is saddened by what is happening to the reputation of Penn State,” Amendola said. “He feels absolutely awful. They’re taking down an entire athletic department."

Amendola said he spoke Wednesday morning with Sandusky, who is still at his State College residence, which is staked out by media. Amendola said he's already at work on Sandusky’s defense, and is still in the early stages of assembling a team. He declined to comment further on the case.

“Jerry and I are both saddened by the rush to judgement,” he said. “Much more is going to come out in our defense.” Amendola noted that some recent news reports have indicated that Sandusky confessed wrongdoing in regards to an alleged 1998 incident with a boy in a shower. “Jerry never said that, but he did apologize for being in the shower — not for sexual activity,” Amendola said.

Too bad “Jer” wasn’t prosecuted after he first confessed to the crime. Must have that “Penn State” “get out of jail free” card. Do not pass go, etc...

I, too, noticed the perp walk was weirdly, horribly unemotional. Another American freak who we’ll have to clean up after for years to come.

"he did apologize for being in the shower — not for sexual activity."

So this grown man admits to being naked in a Penn State shower with a young boy...but he didn't do anything "sexual".

What a crock. He's guilty as sin. He should have been gone the moment that was discovered and reported.

Joe did tell the school, but he should have called the police, as should have the student who saw it.

Sorry Joe, you are a great coach, but you failed hte most basic civic responsibility you could have had. What if that kid had been your grandson? Huh? Do you think you would have just gone to speak with the school admin about it?

No way...if the kid had said the coach was in there with your grandson you would have been down there immediately and would have tried to do all in your power to protect him up to and including beating the holy living daylights out of the perp.

This is about two things.
A sick, homosexual pedophile AND this nations sick obsession with football.
EVERYTHING about this was overlooked and ignored because it would HURT THE FOOTBALL team/reputation of the university.
And- it wouldn’t have gotten half the media attention if the accused had been an English professor instead of a FOOTBALL coach!
Even as the putrid details become public, there are those who say it’s a shame re. the coaching staff and sports reputation of the university!!!
Forget the kids- what does it mean to the football team?!! That was the focus and primary concern that enabled the coverup, and that’s the focus for many now!
I’d like to know how ‘normal’ it is for 11 year olds to be on a college campus-much less in the locker rooms!

Simply put- the national obsession with football took precedence over the sexual abuse of a child and protecting the coach, the team, and the university was the most important thing.
No one should be allowed to ‘retire’ with benefits. Everyone involved should serve prison time- and the university should be sued out of existence!

What happens to child molesters in prison?

Sandusky must know he’ll be Dahmer’d in the pokey.

If guilty, why wait that long Jerry?
Do the only honorable thing you’re capable of, confess and take your own life.

Sandusky had it out for JoePa since being turned down for head coach by Paterno himself.

No remorse?

No Mercy.

Maybe the judge is hoping that Sandusky will do the right thing and either kiss a train or a pistol.

“He feels absolutely awful. They’re taking down an entire athletic department.”

THERE YOU GO!
The lives and bodies of children were RUINED , but it’s the ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT being taken down that is awful!
Maybe this ‘coach’ considered sodomy part of training! How normal is it in football programs if it was overlooked here?

"With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.”

-- Joe Paterno

More? You want to do more now, Joe?!

Seriously, haven't you done enough? You enabled a serial homosexual child-rapist to have access to young boys on your campus for a decade and a half.

When told -- point blank -- that your former defensive coordinator had sodomized a 10-year-old boy in the PSU shower room, you failed to immediately call the police. Instead, you waited 24 hours to call the AD and tell him about it.

Then, when NOTHING happened after several months, you continued to let a known homosexual pedophile rapist keep an office and have access to the campus for 11 more years.

Joe, were you once -- just once! -- ever concerned about the young boy who was raped in your shower room while you did nothing!

Joe, did you even know his name?

Oh, I think you've done enough, Joe. Oh, and good luck this Saturday against Nebraska!
