So, he was honoring her wish, but had her taken to the hospital, where she died.....thereby not honoring her wish.
I see.

he was honoring her wishes to dieThat was the Vinyl Solution to the problem
It takes a lot longer than five days for skin to fuse to a chair.

Sounds like my ex wife. Ass always on the couch.
To: Free ThinkerNY
I wonder how much she weighed.
Only 74 years old? And how does a body “fused” to a chair in only 5 days?

Police were contacted after Brown was taken to a hospital Oct. 27 and found to have a maggot infestation inside an open wound around her ankle, according to the court documents that said Brown's home was "filthy with a heavy smell of bodily fluids and feces."
Thanks, I was just about to make dinner...

Honoring a wish to “die at home”... usually doesn’t include letting a poor, old woman rot in a chair. She had maggots living in her ankle! Poor woman!

After actually reading the article, I realize that I could never be a paramedic.

You learn to like the scent of ‘witch hazel’ or formalin or Mentholatum.

I guess it’s more graceful to die on the head like Elvis, instead of this.

“Only 74 years old?”
I am not sure I’ve ever seen the word “only” in front of the number 74 before.

So, we’ve gone from the, “Help, I’ve fallen and can’t get up” to . . . . .

It might be difficult to understand until your mother becomes completely irrational, wacko if you will. The irrationality degenerates into total inability to function and total intransigence and absolute single mindedness.
It is very sad and the ability to perform actions that might mitigate the situation just disappear into the air

Well, I’m 53. So 74 doesn’t sound so “ancient” anymore.
But I did read that she had a stroke. So that would account for her fusing herself to death on a vynyl chair. I guess.

I think I remember the Mentholatum thing from Quincy.

Those who have watched a loved one succumb to Alzheimers until it kills them and nearly anyone who tries to take care of them will have a little better perspective on this. But it is still a very sad story. I know a woman who was a vibrant Lady in her younger years, and now she is so heavy that her bottom has become the shape of the leather recliner she dwells in. She can still get up and walk, but perish the day when she has a stroke or become unable to get out of the recliner. very sad and totally lacking in human dignity when that arrives.
