Back in the 60s and 70s, my family lived on a small farm in Indiana. Today it would be called a hobby farm but we were to poor back then to have a hobby so we called it a “small” farm.) We had Black Angus cattle which I showed in 4-H. One of our ticks was that we had the feed mill mix molasses into the cattle feed. The sweet taste made the cattle eat more and as a side benefit, the meat tasted better. I am not kidding you, at church or family events, our meat tasted better than other meats.

The FR comedians should have a field day with this posting.

With your molasses and their garbage, we can have ready-made sweet and sour beef. All you only need to do is to fry it.:-)

Well, the large operations are now feeding hogs outdated cookies, Skittles, Snickers, and other candy bars. No need to “candy” your Easter ham..LOL!

I believe that the feed my Dad ground for our sheep had molasses in it as well. Special Note: it did not improve the taste of lamb; nothing improves the taste of lamb except the liberal application of sausage spices & a bucket of tzatziki sauce; even that is borderline.

Here in Florida I see cows grazing on palmetto bushes and crap weeds and I’ve always thought they can’t taste as good as those eating Kansas grass or corn??

Actually several commercial feed supplements add molasses to their formula as a flavor enhancer.

Sounds pretty awesome. Poor perhaps compared to wealth in the cities, but rich in experiences that others can only imagine.
