Just throwing this out there to get other's opinions. I remember several accusations from his tenure as Speaker. Many complete fabrications. What do you think?

He’s a smart guy but part of the problem. Besides he defiled the holy sofa with Pelosi in that global warming ad

I think you should put your keys and wallet in the other pockets.

Newt has done some political calculating and adjusted with the winds recently. He is part of the GOP establishment.

I used to be a fan but think Cain is the first choice. Newt would make a great VP, however. He knows the policital landscape and is a good strategist.

Newt without the baggage would be hell on wheels.

We heard all the same blow hard GOP Establishment talk in 2008. They all could not wait for “the war hero to take on the kid” in the debates. We were all told how “great” McCain was going to be going up against 0. Instead McCain folded like a cheap suit. Newt will be no different.

Hmmm so Newt is the “adult”? The “adult” who has consistently stabbed the Conservative movement in the back in the name of political expediency?

Newt who threw Paul Ryan under the bus, trash talked the GOP Health Care plan as “Right wing social engineering”, chastised Conservative for not backing uber RINO Dede Scusafasa, purposes a Amnesty lite “Middle way on Immigration” and jumped on the Global Warming couch with Nancy Pelosie??

So “adult” now means being a Bush like candidate who will talk a tough game on the Campaign trail and then go to DC and be a good little crony capitalist liberal GOP water boy.

No thanks, I have no interest in voting for McCain 2.0 in 2012

Newt’s the only viable alternative to Mittens who can prevail over Zero.
Newt vs. Zero - who ya gonna vote for?
Nuff said.

I agree.

I wont vote for Mitt - too liberal and Mormon

Perry cannot seem to get it together and I’m not sure he would stand up to Obama without looking like a kid picking a fight

Cain is going to fade because of lack of government experience and sadly, the media is going to make sure that the harrassment charge probably has legs

Although I appreciate Ron Paul’s posiiton on many issues - I am not ready for a Libertarian president

Bachman and Santorum do not have the political clout to get over the top

They are all fine people and I am proud of the conservative movement right now.

Newt would castrate Obama. And the media will do everything they can to castrate Newt.

Just my two cents.

I don’t think Newt can beat Obama.

At this point, the only candidates I think can beat Obama are Cain and Romney.

Newt is fine by me.....

Is he the perfect conservative ? No......

Whoever the GOP nominee will be.....they will have to contend with not only the Obama dirty tricks machine but the media as well....Newt can handle them

Seems like at least as of right now.....Cain is getting his big boy pants on learning with how to deal with dirty politics.....hope he is a fast learner

I like him too. I would be fine with him or Cain actually. Newt is like a professor he would do well with independents and the youth I think. Most folks, other than us, do not know him as well. He definetely makes you listen to him. His wife is interesting though. :)

Yeah, I am considering Newt as well.

I still hold out some hope for Perry, but his communication abilities are just so weak and he is too slow on his feet. I can’t take Herman Cain seriously at all. Romney is awful. Newt might end up being my candidate of last resort. All in all, this is a pretty poor field of candidates.

How many dying wife stories are you willing to hear? Oh, lets not forget his climate debate with Kerry when agreed with much of what Kerry was saying.

Newt is my #2 #NonRomney after Cain. I think Cain can defy all conventional wisdom and win it all.

I’m not convinced that Newt would do better than Cain. He has been attacked more by the Right than the Left so far and the Left has lots of ammo to instill doubt/discontent about Newt. If Cain weathers and capitalizes on the current smear, he will come out even stronger as he is capable of learning how to best deal with what is being thrown at him. If he plays it right, Cain can win a moderate portion of the Black Left bloc and maybe even some of the racist White Left. No data or expertise to back me up, but I predict Cain wins it with 58% of the vote if he is the last man standing on our side.

Why is everyone so convinced Newt would “destroy” Obama in the debates? He has a truckload of crap in his past that Obama would enjoy dredging up for people who may have forgotten. And Best has a tendency to go on too long and sound somewhat arrogant and professorial. He did that at the Faith and in Iowa and it was rather annoying. I do agree he is brilliant, but it is his hubris that has always done him in. Also his stance on amnesty is unacceptable to me.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve never considered Mr. 9-9-9 a viable option anyway.
