What we need is an EASY Button. Every day, especialy early morning, we are invaded by trolls, especialy on the local boards who's only purpose is to sign up and disrupt. Even though we FReepmail the mods about them sometimes it takes hours to get them removed. Teddy WAlmat and the many variations of thet name and many other. It would be nice to have an alarm button where we could just flush these guys down the old tube in short order.
I was here first, my dear friend.
I posted it on the main board to ask if other local boards were having the same problem. Evidently they have. Also wanted to bring it to everyones attention what is going on with the disruptors. You are the one that brought up a candidates name to try and start a fight and here you are again still trying to start one.
Yep... Totally concur with you on this. I'm administrator on another forum (non-political, non-news) and regular members generally have no idea on the private chatter relating to problem members on what to do or to get second opinions on actions they took so they can be reversed or handled differently in the future. It ain't easy.
One thing though I picked up from other posts though is that some or all local boards do not have an abuse button or formal moderating? If this is accurate then it represents a hole in the armor against problem people and spammers. I have my forum set up with a designated mod on every board with a backup mod on most plus a very small number of super mods that have global authorization.
No. I brought up a candidate because it was a Texas subject. I brought up the candidate who is governor of Texas. Very valid to do so when it is on the main page. I could understand you being upset if I went to the Texas Board and brought up something that is not on the subject. But you brought this to me. I did not seek you out. Big difference.
Rats. I wanted to win. Seriously have a great weekend. I did not know this was just for the Texas board people.
You are a troubled soul aren’t you and yes you did bring it to me with your post. BTW, do you think all Texans are Perrybots??? Hardly!Perry gets his share of comments on the Texas board, for and against, but we don’t go calling people names for their opinion!
Chuckle, chuckle
That is key.
There were lots of warnings but they were down thread from the pics.
Yes, I remember hitting the "Report Abuse" button more than once when the bathtub gal or "my butt hole can stretch this big" were posted. I did it as soon as I saw it too, not wasting time alerting others of the pics. Someone told me that the owner of the hosting server would purposely change pictures to show up here.
If Perry is a has-been (and I believe that to be the case) then why are you still obsessed with hating and attacking him? He's irrelevant now. Let it go.
I think he was in the pictures.
Why don’t you just man-up instead?
Yes I am troubled by the liberalism that is creeping into the country especially by Perry. So there you go. You brought this thread to me. Thanks!!!
If you had given him the respect he deserved, maybe he'd still be here!
;-P
Can you ban his IP address?
We've been wondering that for several weeks, now. Another suggestion was to require an email confirmation link to sign up.
Not sure if any of those would do the trick. May be more trouble (to do the suggested solutions) than we know.
Good idea...ditto :^)
An email confirmation might be useful, and maybe a captcha to filter robots, but banning an IP address isn’t likely to be very effective. IP addresses are relatively easy to change if you’re minded to do so (turn off your cable modem or DSL modem for a day and your ISP will probably assign you a new IP when you turn it back on). Not only that, but if you run your posts through a TOR network the IP the freerepublic servers see will always be different and will bear no relationship to the poster’s actual IP address; to defeat that bugbear, you’d have to ban all of the IP addresses for the exit nodes on the various TOR networks - the list can be had (I think) but it puts a lot of work on the server and isn’t necessarily foolproof.
