The answer is actually much simpler. Dinosaurs used the feathers on the ends of their tales as a simple domestic “tool”. The tail would be whisked rapidly in a brisk “back and forth” manner as a means of removing dust and other particulate from their furniture, mantle pieces and window sills, etc.
Prove me wrong...
