A woman on a surfboard and two people aboard a kayak were nearly engulfed by a humpback whale that charged out of the water, its mouth agape, just a few feet away

Ooops! Sorry. Thought it was a Christie thread
I saw a video of a gray whale or humpback that grabbed a swimmer by the ankle and drag her down. The whale took her down and held her underwater until she was almost passed out and quit fighting. It then pushed her to the surface and let her go, completely uninjured.
The woman figured the whale was just playing with her.
What are those birds doing?
Getting the little fish the whale missed.
They almost had a Jonah moment.
What are those birds doing?

The whales drove schools of small fish to the surface and scooped up as many as they could when their mouths came out of the water. The birds are feeding on the confused little fishes that did not get scooped up by the whales but are still uncharacteristically close to the surface where they can caught.
The whales were feeding on anchovies schooling off Santa Cruz. The whales lunge through the school for a mouthful
of fish. I doubt they are targeting kayaks or sailboats.
A few tons of whale hitting your kayak could be bad especially if great whites are in the vicinity.
Probably looking for the krill the whale is eating.
The whale had just swallowed Gepetto and Pinocchio, so it was already full.
Commercial was a little weird..
What a way to die - in the belly of a whale....
Also, imagine the odds....
Yep, that’s West Cliff Drive in the background.
shouldn’t they have whale lanes and surfer lanes?
What are those birds doing?
they should have taken the hint from the birds
The story says that the boaters and kayakers are converging there to get a look at the whales that have been hunting in the area. Well, I guess they got a little closer look than they bargained for!
My rule of thumb is, if something can swallow me without chewing, I give it a WIDE berth. No matter how cute it is!
Trying to get into the video! :)
That sounds like an unarguable bit of wisdom!
