Ain’t from Texas, but my great grandpappy fought in the Texas War of Independence—on the side of the Texans of course—so I reckon that gives me the right to call m’self a Ranger—or a son-of-a-Ranger—or...well...sump’n.

Well put 'er there, pard. My great-great-great grand pappy fought in the war with Mexico and was actually held prisoner by them for a time. He later went on to fight on the Confederate side in the war between the states.

His son (my great-great grandpa) was born here in Texas prior to statehood, which qualified his descendants for Texas First Family status. They even sent my dad a nice certificate signifying that. Kinda cool.
