Sorry!

I know some of the folks who do the forecasting have to be really sharp. They must have different schools in the Caribbean or something for the ones on TV (though I know of one TV guy in the Twin Cities [Dave Dahl, for anyone keeping score] who’s smart enough to be an AGW Denier).

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I had a LOT of family on both sides that still lived on farms in Central Illinois. From the age of 3 or 4 years old I learned how to find my way out of a corn field — pick ONE row, and walk till you find a road, then walk the road till you find the nearest farmhouse and walk to the door whereupon the folks living there will call your relative!

The ineptness of these people is truly frightening. As ADULTS do they not have enough common sense to figure out how to get out of an orchard???

I’ve been “lost” in the WILDERNESS several times in my adult life (in the mountains of Colorado, as well as once in the Forest around the Kankakee River in IL). BOTH times it was merely a matter of knowing how to judge direction based upon the sun and WALKING, albeit walking rather farther than I had planned that day, but walking nonetheless. How did these people survive childhood without a smidgen of common sense?

I’m flabbergasted as to how people can get lost in an orchard OR a corn field! Pick a row and walk. If you come to heavy forest at the end of one row, turn around and walk the other way! *facepalm*

They got snow today in New York... I wonder how many are still at Zuccotti? If any of them freeze to death or lose fingers or toes I’m sure they’ll be blaming the gov’t for letting them stay...
