A Nevada man was arrested on his wedding day, authorities say, after he carried his 56-year-old mother out of the church when she arrived to stop the ceremony. The wedding never happened.
Justin Lew Harris, 35, is facing disorderly conduct and coercion charges for the incident, which occurred at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville, Nev., on Monday, Oct. 17. He was released from the Douglas County Jail on his own recognizance two days later.
According to the Record-Courier newspaper, Harris's mother said her son had invited her to witness his marriage to his 30-year-old fiance, but carried her out when she loudly objected to the nuptials.
The newspaper reports that Harris told deputies his mother arrived at church "yelling and screaming, so I carried her to her car because she has bad legs."
"The only thing I did was carry her to the car. I would never hurt my mother," Harris reportedly said in his statement.
Harris' wedding was called off after the disruption, church volunteer Jim Jameson said. Jameson didn't know what the mother's objections concerned.

Hey, maybe he widowed that many times....uh, oops, that doesn’t sound good, either....
The mother’s behavior is uncalled for, and I agree with his right to carry her out.
This is why I had several relatives not informed of my wedding until after we were on my honeymoon.
our grand parents generally got married young and had kids.
no need to put college in there.
I can’t imagine a mom doing that - me thinks she may have had too much of the bottle.
Or she could be a control freak..
And as you can see, both our parents married early (we were lucky with that), but it didn’t work out. My mother was well-off and educated (college), while my MIL was poor and uneducated. In both cases, it was “stupid” - their words, not mine. And they were more mature than so many others that age.
It has nothing to do with “college”, just college age. I lived through college long ago and it’s obvious these days kids going to college were/are totally immature (just as so many complain our society is going down the tubes, doubly so watching “kids” that age - and another symptom is the promiscuous screwing that goes on and the illegitimacy that is rampant today, also complained about on FR).
We need ADULTS to have children, not encourage children both physically or emotionally to go ahead and risk having them and perpetuating the screw-ups.
Whats still great about America is I can live my life and you can live yours.
My gosh! How many have you had???!!!!
