HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A Connecticut lawmaker says he wants to change the traditional Oct. 31 date of Halloween to the last Saturday of the month for safety and other reasons.
The change would make the holiday easier for working parents, safer for trick-or-treaters and would boost the economy as well, state Rep. Tim Larson said.
"Halloween is [a] fun night for the whole family, but not so much when you have to race home from work, get the kids ready for trick or treating, welcome the neighborhood children, and then try to get everyone to bed for an early school and work morning," Larson, a Democrat, told the Hartford Courant Monday.

Sure, all u gotta do is convince the Catholic Church to move All Saints Day to the Sunday following the final Saturday in October and we’re all set.
What a moron.
I know I know. The guy is a Democrat but I agree with this. My wife and I go to a Halloween Party every year and it is held the Saturday before Halloween or two Saturdays before. In fact, we just attended it this past Saturday. Having it during the week really isn’t fun for anyone. The kids get all this candy and immediately have to go to bed. A Friday or Saturday night would be the best I believe.
Here's his Halloween date:
Rats just aren’t happy unless their effing with something. But it’s for the chillens don’t cha know.
We can’t have anyone be inconvenienced, now can we?
Please tell me that this numbnuts does not have an R after his name.
You OBVIOUSLY don’t have kids. Otherwise you would think this is a great idea. I know you aren’t invited to parties but if you were would you have it on a Monday night just because it is Halloween. I think you are off your rocker. All Saints Day is fine on the first of November.
The idiot is a Democrat, of course.
It’s just a stinkin made up “holiday” anyway so have your party or whatever any time you want to. Why does the government have to be involved in it?
Let's move Christmas to June. It's too cold and dangerous driving to everyones house in the snow.
And don’t forget the Calvinists who celebrate Reformation Day on October 31.
Maybe we should also move Christmas eve to the Saturday before December 25th, then have Christmas on the 25th of December.
ARghhhhhhhhh! Why did you do that to us!?!? Why?!?!? WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Maybe we should also move Christmas eve to the Saturday before December 25th, then have Christmas on the 25th of December.
That is not even remotely close to the situation. How about we make Halloween a holiday than fine have it the exact day. give the following day off too so everyone enjoys it. That is Christmas!!!!!
For Conn. it might be best to move it to Dec. 31st. The kids are out of school, it’s a$$ freezing cold which should reduce the number of kids out there which should make it safer, and you could hand out ice cubes colored with food dye which would be healthier, non-fattening and PC. Best of all, it would put Conn. into the ultra elite group of states that are known for forging new pathways in stupidity.
You should be ashamed of yourself!
Think of all the future Freepers who cried in fear when they saw that image on Mommy’s or Daddy’s computer.
;-)
I think they should pass a law to lower the gravity constant to say a nice even 30ft/s**2.
Then everyone could feel better about their weight.
*shrug* I’m evil that way...
