Nero Wolfe is a brilliant detective who never leaves his Manhattan home. He has a chef named Fritz and also grows orchids on his rooftop. Archie Goodwin is his right-hand man.
See, this is great writing. Nobody would do this today.

Coincidentally, The Friends of Old Time Radio are holding their very last convention this weekend in Newark, NJ. I always wanted to attend. Guests from Old Time Radio, actors & production crew, are becoming scarce.
Sigh.

I think you’re right. I’m pretty certain Rush has cited Nero Wolfe mysteries on a couple of occasions over the years. As a result I picked up a couple of the Rex Stout books.

There was also a 1981 Nero Wolfe series which ran for only half a season, with Lee Horsley as Archie and William Conrad as Wolfe.

Boy the music made today sucks. You cannot tell me people are happier today then back then.

HA! Yes, just about the only “new” MUSIC I’ve heard are RE-MAKES of the older music; most of the rest is hellish garbage. :-)

I met Ed once. Nice man.
He is blind, and that gives rise to a funny story. (Ed confirmed to me that this did happen.) When he was on WRC in Washington, they were promoting a sponsor, Giant supermarkets, one day and he got his copy in Braille, but there was a slight problem.
Ed read what his fingers told him: “Take advantage of this special at the Giant at fill in location.”

Evening, folks...........!

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."
