Actually they treed Angels Camp also, maybe the movie was based on Hollister but the locals here think it was based on Angels Camp, and some old timers, who were kids them, still remember it. And I know the movie was “The Wild One”, the s just slipped in there as a typo. Still wish I had one of those Triumph 500CC twins. Can’t buy them any more.
Could be, it is probably a mash-up of different incidents. Watching it today I must admit I find it kind of goofy and the ‘thugs’ not very intimidating. Shows how much our culture has changed in many ways.
Yeah, those Triumph Thunderbirds are nice. My great-uncle had a 60s 650 Bonnie which my dad inherited when I was about 11. Sadly my pop sold it. I might look around for one, though I am not sure if I could get used to the right-hand shift lever.
The Hollister story was a fake. The time magazine photographer posed the picture and faked the story. That is common knowledge like dan rather’s reserves documents.
