Texas Gov. Rick Perry is a long-time supporter of pro-life issues who, if elected president, would understand the important role the federal government could play in saving lives while at the same time empowering states to do their part, Texas Right to Lifes Elizabeth Graham tells Newsmax.TV.
Graham, director of Texas oldest, largest, and only statewide pro-life organization, said in an exclusive interview that those who are pro-life on such issues as the funding of the abortion industry, abortion services on military bases, end of life, rationing of health care, and abortion stem cell research generally are supportive of the faith and morals of American voters.
So it is very, very important to have a pro-life president who realizes that as a federal official he can in fact enact policies that protect lives without overstepping the states rights that also, at the same time he is enacting federal policies, he can empower the states to enact their own state policies, she said.
My understanding and experience with Gov. Perry is that he understands and recognizes the significance of the role of the president in protecting lives and also keeping the states empowered to do that.
Graham has worked with Perry over the years and praised his willingness to clear obstacles, persuade, and move the ball down the field on behalf of protecting life.
The governor has been supportive of the pro-life effort even before being elected lieutenant governor, she said He has been a staunch advocate, he attends pro-life events, he speaks at pro-life events, we have access to both him and his staff and he has been a very hands-on not only governor but lieutenant governor for the pro-life cause.

I’m not feeling a lot of mojo out there for Perry. Cain seems to have become the choice for those who don’t like Romney.
Once the enthusiasm for Perry faded, he seems to have stumbled. What will he do to overcome both Romney (in the middle) and Cain (on the right)?
While it’s good to see him get high marks on one of the crucial issues for me, I just don’t see a lot of enthusiasm for Perry the way I did a couple months ago. I’m not sure what he can do to infuse more energy into his campaign, but who knows, he may be surging under the radar in those states that have the most votes.
Unlike some candidates who just talk about pro-life and confuse many on where they stand, Perry as a three times governor of the second most populous state in the Union has a real record on acting pro-life. Talk is very cheap and meaningless, actions are everything.
Same approach/strategy used by GWB, try to get the sheeple to ignore the big Pink Elephant in the room(Pro-Illegal Immigration/Pro-Amnesty) by appealing to social conservatives.
I’m hoping that conservative voters, the base of the GOP, have matured and don’t fall for this sleazy ploy.
It's easy to get the sheeple all upset about a particular issue because they don't understand the reason for the problem.
Quick quiz: why can't Alabama school districts -- a government agency -- check the immigration status of students and kick them out if they are found here illegally?
Why can't Arizona enforce SB 1070?
California passed Prop 187 in 1994 requiring state agencies to screen for immigration status those seeking to use social services. Whatever happened to it?
Perry is not for open borders, is against amnesty and has defended SB 1070.
The reason why I prefer Perry to Cain is that he has had to actually deal with matters of political governance. Cain seems to think he can say whatever he wants off the top of his head without understanding the subject or without believing that people will actually pay attention to his words i.e.
"I'm pro-life but abortion should be an individual choice" or whatever it was he was trying to say here
Or that it is not important to know what Uzbekistan is and who runs it.
Or that he was never against an audit of the Fed.
etc.
