Herman Cain's campaign paid his company to buy his books [zot]
CBS News ^ | Oct 18, 2011 | Lindsey Boerma

Herman Cain's case against pundits who claim he's running a book tour rather than a presidential campaign just got a bit more complicated.

Federal Election Commission records show that the former Godfather's Pizza executive paid more than $64,000 of his presidential campaign funds to his motivational speaking company, T.H.E. New Voice Inc., for copies of his own books, and for lodging, airfare, and resources, Bloomberg News reports.

Previous rulings by the FEC have allowed candidates to use their campaign funds to buy their own books, as long as the purchase is at market value and the money goes to charity rather than to personal profit. But Bill Allison, editorial director at the Washington, D.C.-based Sunlight Foundation, told Bloomberg that Cain's case should raise some eyebrows.

"All candidates publish books and they offer them as a premiums to donors, but most candidates aren't buying them from their own companies," Allison said. "It raises the question of his campaign contributions ending up in his own pocket."

“Herman Cain believes that abortion is wrong, but it’s not the government’s business to stop it . . . “

You lie!

You can deny it seven ways to Sunday, but that exactly what he said. Now that he has been caught out, he is trying to walk it back and say that wasn't what he meant, but he is either lying, or as inarticulate as anything Perry has ever said.

So, if stating the truth and quoting the man exactly as he said it makes me a liar then so be it.
""After initially saying that he believed in abortion "under no circumstances," Cain appeared to change his tune entirely when pressed by Morgan about cases of rape and incest.

"It's not the government's role or anybody else's role to make that decision," Cain said. "Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, you're not talking about that big a number. So what I'm saying is it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn't have to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive issue."
His words, not mine. I didn't make hims say that, Piers Morgan didn't force him to say them, he said them of his own free will and now, having figured out that he screwed up and revealed that he was pro-choice, he is trying to walk them back with the lame excuse that he didn't understand the question.

Everybody else in the world understood Piers Morgan's question, why didn't he? Answer is, he knew exactly what he was being asked and he stepped into a can of worms with his answer and is now trying to unsay it.

I can’t even figure out why Clairity got it, and your telling me is the first time I have heard that Polybius got it.

I’m not sure, but I think that stealth zots are the mods’ way of saying, “Don’t make a fuss.”

That’s not “exactly what he said”. You are putting words in the man’s mouth and quoting him out of context, with no regard for his long-stated positions, or the clarification of these specific statements that he has already issued. You’re simply trolling, and it’s disgusting behavior for a poster on a conservative website.

I’m adding you to my list of trolls to whose words I will never give credence to again.

What do you mean by “stealth zots”? It’s not like zots are usually announced to the forum, so aren’t they all “stealth zots”?

I've seen zots on the threads, especially when The Boss does them himself. Occasionally Admin Moderator will do a public zot as well. But when someone is simply suddenly not there, sometimes it's a "don't make a fuss" situation. I'm just guessing and have no idea if that's true or not.

And then there's this one:

So go ahead Jim and do your duty, or whatever else trips your trigger. You only get to do this once, so please enjoy it when you hit the “Smite” button. Believe me it won’t be any skin off my butt, I will not lose any sleep over it, and I will never be back.

Thank You all, but I’m the one who came up with the “Butt Hurt Report Form” in the first place, so I need no further advice.

Cheers, and adieu.

Enough with the Texas slams! You don’t like Perry, fine but, don’t insult every Texan. (especially Texas FReepers)

BTW: Perry has written 2 books.

Some of you people have brought it on yourselves. I’ll apologize for nothing regarding the behavior of some loud mouthed Texans on FR. About 20 who have embarrassed themselves and their state with their idiocy. Thankfully, two of them were Zotted off this thread earlier.

I think they got tired of Clairity re-posting threads that were deleted, but I’m not sure. But she wasn’t really a stealth zot, because they changed the title to “zot”. :)

JR said there wouldn't be a Perry purge.

How can you people relish the demise of fellow FReepers because you don't agree with them?

There's something seriously wrong with several of you.

Thankfully, for who?

You think fellow FReepers getting zotted is good because YOU don’t agree with them?

It will get awfully boring in here when everyone agrees with you.

i am not relishing the banning of a fellow freeper.

i am relishing the banning of LIARS and trolls. People who’d moved past the point of normal disagreement.

I have NO problem with an honest, intelligent debate. As a matter of fact, I love it.

But when people post outright lies, get corrected with cited sources a dozen times - them start another thread with the same lie, over and over again -

THAT is troll behavior.
