Herman Cain's case against pundits who claim he's running a book tour rather than a presidential campaign just got a bit more complicated.
Federal Election Commission records show that the former Godfather's Pizza executive paid more than $64,000 of his presidential campaign funds to his motivational speaking company, T.H.E. New Voice Inc., for copies of his own books, and for lodging, airfare, and resources, Bloomberg News reports.
Previous rulings by the FEC have allowed candidates to use their campaign funds to buy their own books, as long as the purchase is at market value and the money goes to charity rather than to personal profit. But Bill Allison, editorial director at the Washington, D.C.-based Sunlight Foundation, told Bloomberg that Cain's case should raise some eyebrows.
"All candidates publish books and they offer them as a premiums to donors, but most candidates aren't buying them from their own companies," Allison said. "It raises the question of his campaign contributions ending up in his own pocket."

Early on, had Perry gotten the nod, I was willing to hold my nose and vote for him against Obama.
Thanks to Perrybots, he’s now in the same camp as Romney for me.
NEVER.
Wooooohoooooo!!!
Clairity gets the ZOT!!!
YEAAAAH, BABY!!!
Obnoxious Perry-bot troll Clairity rides the lightning!
I vaguely remember this...it was a big stink. He was Speaker of the House and not only resigned as Speaker but resigned from Congress.
A lot of people get into messes with their books.
Moral---Let Bill Ayers write your books.
Before even reading this thread, I’ll bet anyone ten bucks that it won’t be ten posts before somebody decides to defend Cain by attacking Perry who is not mentioned in the story.
Is my ten bucks in jeopardy? Guess I’ll see.
zotted for posting this?
So why is it so important what POTUS candidates believe?
Guardasil - never happened, Perry tried to stop a cancer epidemic but said the method was mistaken and he listened to the people.
Hanging with la raza - I saw this, that he addressed them once and stated his beliefs to them, some of which they didn’t support. Didn’t hang, therefore.
Public prayer meetings - nothing wrong with that. They can publicly pray just like everyone else, or else they are not religiously free.
Worked for Al Gore - Didn’t work for Al Gore. Even Gore says he did not, he simply publicly stated his support. That same year he voted for George Bush 41 and soon turned Republican, and became the first elected Republican Lt. Governor in the history of Texas.
Fewer high school grads in Texas than any other state, percentage wise - this has been a problem in Texas all along, not attributable to a governor or any one person. It is demographics and socio-economics.
TTC (Trans Texas Corridor) Perry listened to those who sat with him and told him of all the problems and pitfalls of that effort, and he said to them, “You can tell the people that the TTC is now no more”.
In-state tuition - The Texas Legislature passed it with all but 4 lawmakers voting yes. It requires 3 years attending and graduating from a TX high school, of those brought here as children by family who came illegally from Mexico. They have that requirement as opposed to those from other states who can move to and reside in Texas one year and get in-state tuition. The Federal Government mandates that such children must be educated by the public schools, the question for states is what happens then??
Oh yeah, still waiting to find out why you said Perry has no books out there because he can’t write any and even ghostwriters couldn’t help.
When he has two books out there, so you were just flat out wrong.
Ha, thank you Sprite, you saved me ten bucks that I really need.
Good zot! :-)
Yes, I immediately thought of Fort Worthless Jim Wright.
It’s okay I guess, but a little iffy.
There were merely roving gangs that did the above from thread to thread started by anyone else they didn’t like.
Bullies gone wild.
Seriously, sourcing CBS says more about you than it does about Cain.
Do they buy them with campaign contributions?
Just askin’
So Jim and the mods are on the side of "bullies?"
You might want to rethink that one.
It is a huge disappointment to me that Clairity or whatever her name is would be zotted for posting something from a major news source.
Will we be zotted now for preferring Perry to Cain?
Pretty sad.
And, by the way, that particular poster has been nothing but courteous to the nasty attackers here.
Okay, I admit I skipped through some of the posts from the ‘usual suspects’ but I’d really liked to know why this poster was zotted.
It’s important to me. Could you please explain, ad monitor?
Cain's is ranked # 50.
I guess Perry didn’t buy enough of his own books.
