LaRussa blew it tonight....
I think we’re destined for a classic series.

Elvis was in the building tonight!
Great defense, a huge hit, and alert base running in the 9th.

Despite Washington’s best efforts; Rangers still squeak it out. Hell of a series; shame no one is watching.

Game 1 had an increasing viewership from 14 to 16 million, according to
tvbythenumbers:
[Game 1's] broadcast opened with a 7.0/12 (11.3 million) from 8:00-8:30 PM ET, and grew steadily throughout the night: 8.8/14, 14.4 million from 9:00-9:30 PM ET; 9.6/15, 15.5 million from 10:00-10:30 PM; and peaked at 9.9/17 with 16.0 million viewers from 11:00-11:30 PM ET.
That wasn't the best numbers, nor the worst.

Base running won that game tonight. Say what you want about Wash you people, but he is a better than decent manager.
Saturday here in Texas baby. We come home tied 1-1 and I am ready for some homers. This 3-2 and 2-1 stuff is giving me ulcers.
I like the sound of Texas Rangers next to 2011 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS.
It could happen.

Texas had one of the worst records in one-run games in all of Major League baseball...Washington just isn’t that good; he’s come close to getting canned twice. They could have won 102-106 games, even with all the injuries.

For sheer drama, nothing comes close to playoff baseball. This was old school baseball, great pitching, great defense, the Rangers put on a clinic in the ninth on how to play “small ball.”

Yes Wash’s in-game managing leaves a lot to be desired, but he’s certainly created a good clubhouse atmosphere.....not a lot of managers could have dealt with the whole Michael Young imbroglio at the beginning of the season as well as Wash did; that had the potential to tear the clubhouse apart if it was botched.

Just before the World Series started, I had the feeling that it was going to turn into
Home Run Derby, especially since the Cardinals and Rangers started to hit a lot of home runs during both League Championship Series.
But it appears that it will turn into pitchers' duels, with even the slightest fielding error being critical in the game.

Audience built to nearly 20 million toward the end of the game, based on FOX press release at same site...anyone in ‘New York’ or ‘Boston’ or ‘Philadelphia’ who are in a snit because THEY aren’t playing are missing some real nail-biters.
