PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh City Council has approved paying $6,000 to settle an excessive force lawsuit filed by a man serving 10 to 20 years in prison for a bank robbery and 20-mile rush-hour police chase.
Tuesday's vote settles the lawsuit filed in August by 39-year-old John McAleavey Jr., of Ridgemont, who claimed police were too rough and wrongfully used stun guns during his arrest in September 2008.
McAleavey sued, claiming officers broke his nose, injured his head and left him with nerve damage by shocking him for 20 seconds.
He claims the injuries hindered his "future horizons" because he can't work or care for himself.

It would have been cheaper to kill him outright!
This is just a nusience settlement. It would have cost MUCH more than 6K to litigate the case to victory. So, they gave him some token money to go away. The lawyer take 2k and expenses will eat up at least an additional 2K, thus leaveing our bank robber with around 2K for himself.
next time just KILL HIM.
$6k? It’s not even worth the guys time. This is statisically zero.
Sure, pay him $6000 in shredded, decommissioned dollar bills...
Give him some glue, and tell him to get to work...That should make his time in the pokey go by rather quick...
