The sacrifice of Sarah Palin (Vanity)
10/16/2011 | NakedRampage

Since Sarah Palin announced that she was not going to run for president, there has been a certain degree of bitterness on the part of some FReepers. She was bilking us, some said, just trying to hawk her books. She has betrayed us, said others, she never wanted to run anyway. I admit that at first I was one of them.

However, take a look at the attention Herman Cain suddenly been getting. These articles resulted from a quick google search and go back six days...

...None of it is complementary. Meanwhile Lawrence O’Donnell over at MSNBC lectures Cain on the 'black experience' and Al Sharpton questions whether Cain is "authentically black."

Sarah Palin was taking the flak for Cain, I believe. She knew that as soon as she was no longer a consideration, the media's guns would turn on the next true conservative; Cain. Palin stayed to cover Cain, giving him as long as possible to stay out of the harsh, biased media spotlight.

She sacrificed herself to protect the best conservative in the race. To give us a chance to elect Herman Cain rather than Mitt ObomneyCare or La-raza Rick.

Lets honor her sacrifice. Lets raise Cain!

So this blackened by media person somehow has this immense power to help a true conservative?

Get your story straight - that confusion happens when you eat media propaganda and your post drips of it.

Lol, just no. I doubt she’ll even endorse him. Sarah Palin is for Sarah Palin. She’ll wait to see who endures before she’ll endorse. She wants to be seen supporting the winner.

I am a big Palin fan and I wanted her to run.
She decided not to and I am not so vain as to second guess her decision or mean-spirited enough to put nefarious intent into it.

But by not running she crashed her stock and that is the political reality. She can still be a player as a proven crowd pleaser but even this ability will wane as her place in politics becomes more and irrelevant since she took herself out of the power club.

She is a good woman with a fine family and has several happy paths before her even without the violent threshing floors of cut-throat politics.
Happy, but not exciting, to her (IMHO) or to any who may still follow her.

LOL

Like when she talked him up on Greta’s show but couldn’t show him enough respect to say his name right? She kept calling him “Herb Cain”?

She was taking flak for HERB? And then she graciously bowed out so he could take over?

That’s funny!

It appears that YOU haven't been paying attention. Palin wasn't in officially, of course, but she new that as long as the media was focusing on her, the other conservative (Cain) would get a degree of respite. The media war on Cain is jsut warming up, and in my opinion has been plenty harsh, especially when compared to the gentle way they handle The Bamster, Mittens, and Huntsman.

I sense that you are a somewhat simple soul. Thats good, provided you don't ty to put on airs of brilliance.

Sorry, but I’m never going to think that putting ones family first constitutes betrayal of some political ambition

Well, you obviously are not one of the exalted snot-nosed narcissists around here who think they are entitled to tell Sarah Palin how to live her life. Shame on you for not being a snarky loser.

Oh, that's why ahe very clearly called him HERB Cain three times in one interview....it was a "plan" to help him.

My word, she is playing three dimensional chess!!!

Palin decided to not run for reasons of her own.

My theory is that Palin had an agreenent with WalMart to provide her with state-by-state sales of The Undefeated after the first day of release, and determinded in advance to go/no go based on sales in states which would be critical to her success. When the figures were provided she ran the numbers and threw in the towel, the day after the release. I'm at least willing to take her at her word: she was contemplating running all along, not "stringing us along", but had a predetermined decision-point. (She couldn't have announced in advance her criterion, it would have invalidated the test: her fans would have simply flocked to WalMart's and bought multiple copies to convince her to run.)

Palin's day - and ours - may yet come, but not in 2012.

Yeah right. That's why she hasn't endorsed Cain, although she did endorse and work for Rick Perry in both his primary and general election last year.

I don’t doubt that that consideration had a good deal to do with it as well. And she has every right to take care, of and spend time with, her family.

Not sure what she is doing; she seems to have gone silent and vanished. I’m not too thrilled with her anymore.

Ah. I saw some folks here using "Herb" but I didn't know why. That made me think of a late, long time SF newspaper columnist, Herb Caen. Probably nothing to do with her saying it, but they are pronounced the same.

I understand your scenario, but I don't believe it to be true. Palin had taken a shot at Cain earlier on about having no executive experience. I don't think she would have done that if her desire was to draw enemy fire away from Cain.

As much as many of us believed in a Palin candidacy, hindsight makes it fairly obvious she never was seriously considering a run. She didn't wish to pursue the office and chose instead to keep her current life for whatever the reason. While I think the timing of her announcement and the way she did it was far from great, I'm still grateful for the role she played in the 2010 elections.

I think she likes the speeches and her (now lessening) ability to influence the argument, but the reality is she made herself “a ship in the harbor”. In terms of endorsing or promoting a specific candidate, I haven't seen it and don't anticipate her to in the immediate future.

I too watched the attacks on her, all the while Cain kept rising.
Whether planned or not, it worked.
I also noticed that she did not bail until Cain was a clear FRONT runner.

HERM not “Herb”.

People around here just make stuff up and think it’s fact.

Too lazy to do 15 seconds research typing one word on a search engine..

She is not endorsing anyone in the primary. The only ones that listen to the media spin and believe/repeat it are liberals and rinos - so what’s your beef? Her message gets through - that’s why she is WORLD KNOWN.
