The content-type of the page returned by the links is application/octet-stream Is he using PHP to generate the pages? Probably needs to be something like text/html

With firefox, I just selected to open the file with firefox.exe

It opened, but said the content was restricted, and I had to watch it on youtube.

I clicked on the youtube link and the vid played.

Check your version of Adobe Flashplayer...a few versions (months) ago would not open any youtube videos...it is a known issue. The most recent version of flash should resolve that.

There are some sites that have an agreement with Microsoft and there pages won’t open with anything except Windows Explorer. Don’t believe me? Too bad, it is true. Some on line schools are set up that way. At one point there were quite a few sites that required explorer to open but not so many today.

I tried to open the video of the S. African mountain biker being rammed by an antelope from that site.
Couldn’t. Using FF on a Mac.

I have not used IE in years, but have not run into that problem.
I use only Firefox, but I do have IE7 and Chrome available.

Chrome is OK, but I understand that Google tracks you on
everything you do through them, including their search.
That is why I use Startpage for my search, and avoid their browser.

My website checks to see if you are using IE. If you are, you are directed away to a page that basically says, “sorry, when you get a HTML compliant browser, come back”.

IF, IF, IF you can even get the latest version to download .....

Grrrrr.

I’ve had to switch to Chrome for regular browsing for about a week now, since I can’t get FF to load the updated Flashplayer.

One other feature of Startpage is that it does let you search Google, or any other engine through a back door.
Google sees only the Startpage IP, and not yours.

I switched to Firefox a while back, after the Microsoft update made it impossible for me to do anything on IE.

But a couple of weeks ago, Google came in and stole my home page and fashioned their own for me. What's the deal with that? Did I forget to “unclick” something?

My g’son designed it for me and I'm ticked that they can just suck it all away and put in their own selections that they believe are similar to what was there. NOT!

I have no idea.
Do watch for the Firefox updates. You should get a notice from them anytime new ones are available.
I downloaded a batch of them yesterday.

I get Adobe update notices all the time. They just popup in my Firefox.
I do not think I have had any problems loading the updates.

It seems like when I open it, they automatically ask. My browser still opens in Firefox, but the page is all google! Hopefully one of my grandson’s will be over here soon to restore it. They can do it at lightening speed, I just have to get out of their way.
