It ain’t over yet. The election is more than a year away, and in politics a lot of things can happen, sometimes very surprising things.

Very sober and realistic of you. Cheerio!

Those followers of Palin should understand and react to reality accordingly. She is not a factor 2012. Thus, her endorsing anyone should not equate.

She is “something”.......sideline cheerleader......media advocate......prognosticator? I dunno.

But, the calendar moves along and you must make your choices as a result of that.

If she had announced earlier, it would be ok. People are upset with her now.

Sarah Palin has found herself in a position in which she wields power without having to suffer the barbs of public lawsuits.

I think she has done well and will continue to shape public debate.

It’s funny to me, in that even though I very much wanted Palin to run, and was in thorough anticipation of it, it really didn’t phase me all that much that she declined. Some pangs of sadness and disappointment for a few minutes, but not much beyond that.

I think it’s because my support of her has never really been contingent on a run. It’s been a combination of her pitch-perfect (for me) positions and incredible grace under fire. Just looking at her speeches from this weekend, she still inspires me, far more than all these garden-variety politicians milling around wanting my vote. So I’m still supporting her as much as ever, with whatever direction she wishes to take. And from the sounds of it, she’s just going to re-direct her fight, to a more optimum battlefield. Really looking forward to seeing it unfold.

Gov Palin has integrity - and she’s a proven Patriot when one looks at her accomplishments for the people of Alaska. When was the last time we saw a candidate like her? These current crop of presidential candidates wear MEDIOCRE labels.

Sarah was very effective ONLY because of the possibility that she may become president

Not correct.

It was because she gave voice from the heart to those Americans who love God, work hard, play by the rules, do their best to raise their children properly and have watched the Ruling Class try to destroy the greatest nation on earth with the poison of secular progressivism and statism.

And anyway, we should never look to Sarah alone to right the ship. Pray and have faith that others will be raised up to this task as well.

One thing that is now readily apparent is the fallacy that some believed that Sarah would somehow be more effective at promoting conservative causes as a non-candidate. Sarah was very effective ONLY because of the possibility that she may become president. Without that possibility, she is not much different than someone like Condi Rice—at one time very relevant for America, and for now much less so.
***That’s about how I see it. I’m disappointed in her. Also, I lost a ton of money supporting her on Intrade.

Oh well, maybe she’s just angling for that VP spot which is basically a sinecure and she can stay viable. If not, Perry/Cain 2012

To see that Sarah was very instrumental in guiding the 2010 elections and thinking that she could wield such influence even after public knowledge that Sarah was not running -- well that's just very shortsighted.

Yep, since announcing that she's not running for the Presidency she's dropped out of the media totally.

Nobody, but nobody, writes, talks, or blogs about her, speculates on her endorsement, or anything.

It's like she never existed.

RE: Condoleeza Rice, she’s no longer SoS and not getting news coverage, but world leaders still do confer with her, as do major policy crafters. Just because she’s not in the news doesn’t mean she’s not plenty effective and influential. There comes a time to move away from the limelight, and that’s as it should be.

I disagree. She's still drawing crowds, and still has a lot to say about the economy and energy issues, and the failures of the present occupant of the White House. And the fact that she's young yet, leaves the chance that she might run in the future, when her kids are grown. One never knows.

The reason I had hoped for a Palin candidacy was that I had believed that she may be able to start to right the sinking ship that is America. But I fully accept that it will not be the case at least until 2016 (and very possibly never).

Let me preface my reply by saying that even though it may sound like an endorsement of Perry, and as many on here know I am a Perry supporter, it is not. It is an endorsement of America. I know that right now that it may seem that America is on it's last legs, it certainly looks it when you consider the overwhelming support Obama received in '08 and because of Marxist junk that has been shoved on us in the past 3 years. Added to that the war we are now fighting with the unions and Marxist occupiers that are being given support by the Statist that are in control right now. But look to Texas.

In Texas the American spirit and "Americanism" that has defined us as the greatest Nation on Earth is still present in our people. We have shown in our state that the uniqueness and greatness of the American Spirit will overcome all obstacles and freedom will always prevail. I will concede the argument that Perry was handed "four aces" with Texas, I will also say that so has every governor in America because those four aces are Americans, American Democracy, American ingenuity, and Freedom. In Texas, we were smart enough not to throw in those Aces in hope of a better hand. By clinging to our Americanism Texas continues to prove that America is still the greatest Nation ever conceived in spite of Obama and the rest of the Statist attempts to destroy us. We lead the country in job creation, we continue to fill our couffers, and our housing market, import and export and energy production is as strong now as it was before the recession hit. So long as we continue to throw off the shackles of slavery that Statist always use to try to destroy freedom America will always be the "Shining City on the Hill".

So take heart, America will prevail, we will not be destroyed. The Left always believes they know of a better way but have only theory to prove it and a continuous track record of failure and misery. We, on the other hand, have 235 years of undeniable success to prove that Americanism is the only system that works. Look to Texas, the fire of freedom still burns and will spread back to re-ignite this gift of God, America, so long as we continue to fight.

We owe Sarah a debt of gratitude. During the time of Obama she armed us with truth and fortified us with courage in what could possibly have been our nation's darkest hours. She stepped-up to lead when everyone else cowered away and for that I will always be grateful. We owe her to pick up the flag and continue to charge into the battle.

Actually have much more respect for Palin as a person now that she declined. The Presidency and DC would have ruined her as an individual. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and all one needs to verify that is to look at where Obama is now just 3 years after taking office.

I’m crushed. I no longer go outside. I slowly trace veins on my wrist with a razor blade. Nothing has color or meaning. Joy is a thing for children, not me. I hide in my bed, all day, every day. People knock but I don’t care. There’s no point.

You are correct. And she will find that truth out eventually. Power comes from being or potentially being a candidate. Celebrity does not have power. It is waning even to this very hour. And while there may yet be another Esther, it may be also that we simply perish as a free people too... when even our best and brightest leaders fail to show true courage.

Maybe I missed something here. I thought the reason people liked Sarah was, well, because she is so often so right.

Yes, that could make for fine Presidential material, but if she decides not to run, do her brains suddenly fall out?

No.

Why do I get the distinct impression that so many supporters (fans?) are moping about like jilted teenagres?

Sarah remains an impressive and attractive lady, imho, impressive not only for what she has done, but for the beliefs and positions she has advocated for years now.

Is she somehow suddenly wrong? No.

Those same self-evident truths continue to be the truth and she is a powerful spokesperson for those beliefs.

Until she returns to save the country I think a remake needs to be done of the film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with Sarah in the role of Billy Shears.
