Roger Ailes and Nicole Wallace

Posted on 10/09/2011 5:13:55 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I have been thinking about the past week and trying to connect dots and making sense of the Palin situation.

Two stories that broke the night before she said she wasn't going to run really stick in my mind.

Nicole Wallace told TIME that Sarah Palin was the inspiration for a female VP candidate who was crazy and mentally ill.

Roger Ailes came out and said that the only reason he hired Palin is because she is hot and got ratings.

Both stories were equally disgusting. My question to all of my good FReinds out there is this. Do you think these two stories were a factor in Governor Palin deciding not to run ?

And how big of a factor was Joe McGinness ?

>> “She said she thinks she can do more for her country if she doesn’t run for president.” <<

That absurd statement is what calls all of her other statements into question.

Its so obviously false, and Palin is so obviously intelligent, that it all screams that there is another reason that cannot be voiced.

How about this one? Trump blackmailed Palin.

Basically in their meeting he probably said something along the lines of this:

Trum: “Look Sarah, I like you a lot, I like your style. But as leader of the free world, no disrespect, but these male chavunists (especially in China) will eat you alive. If you’re the best the GOP thinks they can put up against Obama, I’m going to have no choice but to run.”

Palin: “So what you’re saying is you’d let your personal ego get the best of you and let President Obama get another four years.”

Trump: “I didn’t say that. And frankly, in a race between President Obama, myself, and you, I think the American people would realize the grown-up in the room”

Palin: “Don, you might have a lot of money and resources, but I doubt you’ve actually got any specific knowledge into what composes the typical American voter, whether it’s the good, hard-working people of Iowa or the fed up entrepreneurs in New York. I’m telling you now, if you let your ego get the better of you, you will be allowing Obama to hold the keys to the White House for four more years and continue the destructive policies.”

Trump: “I don’t believe that, and frankly, I worry about the country to the point I’m not gonna allow the GOP to screw this up and give Obama an easy re-election, which is what would be happening if you got the nomination. I’m sorry Sarah, people aren’t going to see you as the strong leader they need”

Palin: “I take sincere offense with that Mr. Trump. And I believe if you got in touch with the American voters, you’d realize just how much the ignorance of that statement is”

Trump: “Look, it’s no offense. I said the same thing to Michele. I think you gals are great. I love what you do and what you stand for. But as leader of the free world at one of the most dire times in American history against one of the worst Presidential administrations in history, we can’t afford that. We absolutely need to have someone that can handle the job, and if the Republicans don’t put forth someone I think can handle it, I’ll have no choice but to run”.

Palin: “So again, what you’re saying is if I were to listen to the fire in my belly and run, you will let your ego get the better of you”

Trump: “We can agree to disagree, but my decision is the same. If the Republicans fail to put forth someone I think can handle the job, I will have no choice but to run.

So if your Palin, and a conversation like this took place, what would you do?

(Note: The conversation is 100% fictional and for illustration purposes only and to perhaps make the OP feel a little better)

Watching “The Undefeated” would completely disabuse you of that bizzare theory.

I think Ailes merely meant she was a ‘hot’ news item who would draw ratings.

Hey come on now, I didn’t say I believed it. I was just trying to make the OP feel better.

Personally, there’s something that caused her not to run. We may never know what that was.

Vet, I keep remembering what Sarah said near the end of her last interview with Hannity. She said, “This is going to be a very unusual campaign, believe me, a VERY unusual campaign.” She put so much emphasis on that statement, I wondered about it at the time. I’m not moving on. I have pretty much decided that I won’t vote for a candidate I don’t believe in, and I don’t see one out there. I will probably write in Palin if possible.

I think that Palin, as she said, weighed the needs of her family and put them first.

Pretty good theory, and one I’ve considered also. Sad state of affairs, when this kind of thing can happen.

I think all that stuff in late September may have sent Bristol over the edge. Willow goes as Bristol goes and Palin wasn’t about to launch a campaign with Bristol off the reservation again. Moving the primaries up a month and the greater media clamor for Christie than for her may have also been factors.

But if she’d been all in, she’d have announced earlier, IMO. Fred Malek, a supporter into 2009, at least, had said early in the cycle that he didn’t think she would run because she didn’t like the process of raising money from major donors. He might actually have nailed it right there.

AP. If he didn’t say it, he’s had plenty of time to deny it, yet he has not. Also, it’s written as a direct quote, so you can bet that there is an audio transcript of the interview. We could talk about the AP’s slant all day, but the AP is and always has been good about covering it’s ass legally. You can bet that he said it exactly as quoted.

My personal opinion is that it was Mcginnis’s book. He went from person to person looking for dirt on Palin, and printed everything he heard. Undoubtedly most all of it is pure fiction, but statistically speaking, it can’t be all lies. My guess is that one of the more unseemly accusations is true, and it hit home. I have no idea which one, and I don’t want to know.

Sarah is a human being, and has skeletons in her closet like the other 6 billion of us. Looks like Mcginnis found one and it’s buried in his pack of lies. The only reason I suspect it’s one of the more unseemly ones is the effect it seems to have had on her.

Also, for what it’s worth, my wife thinks she dropped out because she’s pregnant again. She’s calling it obstetrical intuition. If that’s the case, then by all means, God bless the Palins.
