ESPN is weeping...no Red Sox, no Yankees, no Phillies. So what is it that makes these ESPN clowns ‘experts’?

Yep, that was an awesome 9 inning performance by Carpenter. But most of the innings were 3 up 3 down. I wonder how many pitches he threw? Regardless, a great performance. And he looked like he had a few more innings in him.

So will Milwaukee get revenge for 1982 against the Cards?

The squirrel was a jinx. Sort of like the mad rabbit and Carter.

Probably the greatest post-season pitching performance by a Cardinal....and that’s saying something considering they had Bob Gibson.

"Props to the Cards for an amazing run the last month. 23 out of 30 I think."After submitting to the Brewers they were able to relax and perform.

I had no stake in this series and really didn't care who won, but I gotta say I'm really surprised the Phillies could ever lose a series with a starting rotation like that.
Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt made up the best 1-4 rotation I've seen since the Braves of the 1990s. They were so good that Vance Worley, who went 11-3 and is a serious contender for the National League Rookie of the Year award, was relegated to the bullpen for this series.
When you don't score any runs it's hard to win no matter how good your pitchers are.

Bob Gibson struck out 17 Tigers in the first game of the 1968 World Series.

Kid from my neighborhood - Mike Stutes - is playing his first year for the Phillies. Sad to see them eliminated. Good kid.

I guess that eight-game losing streak for the Phils near the end of the season was a harbinger of things to come.
We chatted about this a week or so ago. It wasn’t just the 8 game steak. It was a month and a half of no hitting.Great pitching tonight by the Phils though. I love a good old fashioned ballgame that goes 1-0, 2-1. Some call that boring, I was on the edge of my seat all game long

Well, Gibson did have all those World Series wins, including one with 17 strikeouts. This will definitely rank up there in the Cards history book, which is a heavy book already

A disaster for TV - goodbye East Coast markets. Now the World Series will just be Midwest and West Coast teams.

That’s why the Braves only had 1 World Series to go with their 13-straight Division Titles. Couldn’t hit when it mattered.
