Rush Limbaugh did not mention Sarah Palin not running for president

Posted on 10/06/2011 12:05:01 PM PDT by Politics4US

Why do you think Rush didn't bring up Palin's announcement that she's not running for president?

Right. Everybody, please know that for quite a long time, Polybius has spent about half of his posting time (and he posts a lot) demoralizing Palin detractors, AND he's posted material that I've only been able to source to TWO uber-liberal and anti-Republican websites.

Those websites: "No Republicans for President in 2012" and "Irregular Times." Go online for yourself, google them or put a dot com after the names, and see for yourself where Polybius gets HIS material. Go back in his "in forum" history, see the graphic "Palin is the Alaskan Word for Quayle" in one of his posts several weeks back, and confirm for yourself where you can find that graphic.

Polybius gets his stuff from the enemy camp. What is he doing on Free Republic?

Be wary of Polybius. He's DESTRUCTIVE and does his best to divide conservatives against each other. He is bad news.

Heck, I dunno.

I'm not the one who's concerned about Rush not mentioning Sarah Palin today.

He'll discuss her again at some point.

I guess he just had other things going on today.

Personally, I'm not really losing any sleep over it.

By my observation, Palin lasted about 90 mins last night on the Drudge header.

For better or worse, she was buried by the Steve Jobs story pretty much across all media.

Polybius has posted propaganda on FR from "No Republicans for President in 2012" and "Irregular Times," both socialist-nutso political websites. Remember that graphic of "Palin is the Alaskan Word for Quayle" he posted a few weeks back? Well, I asked him where he got it and why he posted it ... he never answered ... so I went online and did a little research. Those websites where where I found the graphic.

Polybius pretends that his "priority number one" is to defeat Obama, but it's pretty clear that HIS priority number one has been to demoralize Palin supporters, and I'll bet that if he remains on FR, his priority number one will transform into turning conservative camps against each other.

As it should have been. Once she took herself out of the race, she took herself out of the national limelight from a candidate perspective. Whether she can remain a defining conservative force is to be seen ahead.

He could have said, "Folks, I know there are a lot of you out there who are disappointed. It's a little too soon for me to discuss it ... just know that I'm waiting until a better time to talk about it."

He lacked manners and courage today. He chumped out on his listeners and they're justifiably pissed. He could have eased a LOT of angst with a few dozen words and said no more, and I know I would have understood and resepcted it. But ignoring it was an insult to a lot of us.

Palin made a big mistake, and so did Rush. They BOTH lost the respect and regard of many former admirers, though while Rush can probably restore much of it in time, Palin probaby can't. Now she's just another impotent commentator, no more or less valuable than any other. Palin's word meant something when there was the possiblity that she could be ELECTED to a place where she could wield effective power to change the course of things. Without that to back the ideas she puts forth ... she's just another talking head.

I agree, sometimes he play his entertainer role too much with his. But it was shady for him not to mention it.

This is the same complaining that was going on last night about Sarah. Fans are mad at someone because that person didnt live up to some standard that the fans set in their own mind. Its the emotional wing of the Republican party.

My respect for Palin has not changed at all from this. She never said she was running, her fans did. And now that the fans have been forsaken, they will forsake.

Rush saying he is disappointed wouldnt have made anyone feel better, it would have just added to the piss and moan club.

Maybe because a caller might have mentioned Palin.

He might have been afraid that the callers wouldn't mention Steve Jobs or Apple.

I bow to no one in my admiration for Steve Jobs and Apple, and have a MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad as testimony. But Rush wasn't going to be sidetracked in his "Apple/Jobs" soliloquy.

He wasn’t talking about Obama most of his show. He was talking about his love of apple products.

He was an admirer of hers. There is a reason he didn’t mention it.

His total focus with Apple lost me. It gets boring.

He should have set up a guest slot on Kim Komando's show this weekend...they could geek out with the audience for hours...another lost opportunity. :-)

I valued Palin because I saw her as a potential candidate for whom to vote. If she had NOT been a potentail candidate, I would not have become "a fan." I didn't expect her to "live up to any standards" -- I had her in mind as a potential president. Now she's said she won't try for that spot, so -- what value does she really have to offer, other than as a pundit trying to sway opinion? We've got all kinds of them already.

My respect for Palin has changed because I think she's pretty badly mistaken if she thinks her influence is going to retain a FRACTION of its potency as to what it was before.

Why do you think Rush would have said he was disappointed, or that I wanted him to say that? I tuned in because a) I wanted to hear his take on it (I have no idea what that take would be) and b) I wanted a much-needed dose of his "be of good cheer" optimism with regard to a big disappointment -- Rush is so good at helping conservatives who're feeling politically low see the bright side. He failed me on both counts.

If anyone failed to live up to "some standard" that I as a fan had set in my mind, it was Rush, and he failed miserably.

Did I ever say Palin was running? NOPE. Never did, and though I kept it to myself, was always a little put-off by fans who insisted that she WAS, becaue no one knew but Palin. IT IS IRRELEVANT. Her value to me was AS A POTENTIAL CANDIDATE because someone elected to office can affect change. Affect, with an a -- the VERB.

Palin doesn't have much to offer me anymore; I'm disappointed and thinks she's very badly mistaken if she thinks her "voice" is going to have the same draw as it did before -- so my regard/respect for her judgment has dropped on that point.

As for Rush, my respect for him dropped because he exibited bad manners, cowardice, and contempt for a big part of his audience. Not because he didn't "say he is disappointed," but because he didn't say sh*t.

Are you serious?

He didn’t mention it for the same reason he never brought up any discussion about the Republican debate in which Rick Perry called people “heartless” for not supporting in-state tuition for children of illegal immigrants.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Rush is in the tank for Rick Perry. Perry would have never jumped in this race had it not been for Rush. Hence all the “warnings” to Bachmann and Santorum not to go after Perry on HPV/Illegal Immigration, the picture of Bachamnn “jumping the shark” on his homepage, and calling Palin’s comments of accusing Rick Perry of Crony capitalism “unsettling”.

Rush will not bring up or allow any caller through that shows Rick Perry in a negative light. It’s been like this since June, so I’m not sure where you’ve been.

I didnt say you, I was speaking generally. In Plain threads, there was one person who posted that she was ineluctable, and had a tag line that SP is coming and the TP is coming with her. I had several tell me I just needed to have faith in her, personally. I had one say that in time it will all be reveled. Several times I was told that she was using Sun Tzu’s strategies while others said she was the most brilliant campaigner since Reagan.

Those are the standards, set by fans, that she “failed” to live up to. And those are the ones who are now trashing her harder than any of her FR detractors did before the announcement. In your second paragraph, you said you changed how much you respect her because you assume she is doing something.

As for Rush, I was commenting to someone else on whether it would do anyone any good for him to field complaints all day. It would just depress the listeners, and Rush would either have to talk them off the ledge or talk about how he is disappointed.

What could he have said to make you optimistic, if you are not intrinsically? Would you feel better if he said, at least we still have Romney, Cain, and Perry?

Again, the bad manners, cowardice, and contempt is all in your head, because you are thinking emotionally.

“Again, the bad manners, cowardice, and contempt is all in your head, because you are thinking emotionally.”

He isn’t thinking emotionally. Rush calls himself the leader of conservatism and America’s anchorman. Most of his listeners expected him to mention it. Almost all the hosts have mentioned it. Why did Rush mention Christie and not Palin?

You’re exaggerating, and Rush has criticized Perry for immigration. If he liked Perry and not Palin, then Rush would be glad that Palin isn’t running.

Today was Steve Jobs day, just like I assumed it would be.

Which is why I didn't listen today. Rush has been going overboard with his Apple worship lately.

I would say being mad that someone did not mention that a non-candidate decided to stay a non-candidate and calling him a coward, with bad manners and contempt is the definition of being emotional.
