Governor Rick Perry Implements Texas Radio Communications Interoperability Plan - for Enhanced Protection at Border Locations (2005 - 2006)
Gov. Perry Praises Progress of Statewide Radio Communications Capabilities (2007)
http://governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/2258/
(Excerpt)
Gov. Rick Perry today praised the progress of the states radio communications capabilities. At the governors direction, local officials have worked with the states 24 regional councils of government to help Texas reach a key milestone in radio communications interoperability. Perry also reiterated his support for HB 13 and Rep. David Swinfords effort to dedicate $100 million to Texas border security efforts.
One of the key recommendations of the 9/11 Commission is to ensure that when disaster strikes, first responders are able to communicate. A network of interoperable radio systems is a vital component to a swift, coordinated disaster response strategy. Two years ago, Perry set forth an ambitious priority objective to achieve level four radio interoperability throughout Texas by January 2007.
Radio interoperability in Texas is particularly challenging because of its size and geographic diversity,”Perry said. As a result of local leadership, I am proud to report to you today that Texas has achieved level four radio interoperability throughout the state, and in some areas, it is as high as level six.
Level four radio interoperability allows fire fighters, emergency medical responders, police officers, deputy sheriffs and state troopers to go anywhere in the state and have immediate radio communications with each other using their own equipment on established channels.
The importance of achieving this goal was demonstrated last year when first responders from around the state battled devastating wildfires and floods, and for the first time, were able to communicate with one another using their own radios to coordinate their efforts,”Perry said.
Perry also reiterated his support for HB 13 by Rep. Swinford which will increase border security funding by $100 million. Texas has launched several major border security operations, beginning with Operation Linebacker in 2005, Operation Rio Grande in 2006, and most recently and still ongoing, Operation Wrangler

Yawn and double yawn. Like the immature spoiled little boy he is, Perrywinkle will try anything to be noticed.
Waste of time. Perrywinkle does not fool true Tea Party Conservatives. Without us, he’s DOA.
I appreciate your information.I respect Bobby Jindal.
My point of contention was the "heart" remark--the mess Susana Martinez and Jan Brewer have to deal with require an objective response, not an emotional one.
As we are threatened by the Islamo-Commie tyrant I identified in 2007, I will vote for Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin should she enter.
Mitt Romney is in no way to be trusted.
Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. aka Barry Soetero aka the product of Active Measures and a Saudi-Soros cabal delenda est.

Rick Perry has released the Texas Homeland Security Strategic Plan 2010-2015, a strategic plan that will guide the state’s preparation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts for all types of threats over the next five years. The plan serves as a high-level roadmap to allow for adaption to evolving situations in an ever-changing threat environment.
“Texas faces a diverse array of challenges to our safety and security, requiring a unique approach to preparedness, response and recovery efforts,” Gov. Perry said. “This plan was developed with the input of state agencies, law enforcement and emergency management personnel that form the homeland security community in Texas, ensuring the most accurate assessment of the risks in our state and the best recommendations on how to address them.”

Well I hate to defend them but its a pretty short list of realistic candidates. Romney, Cain and Perry. Romney not acceptable. That leaves Perry and Cain to choose from.
Rick Perry was on my TV telling me that I don’t have a heart, so that put Perry right next to Romney on my not even on a cold day in - - - - will I vote for them list.
My first choice was Sarah Palin, my second is Herman Cain. Although I hope one of them makes it, I would be open to looking at someone else if they don’t. Just NOT Romney or Perry.
You are welcome, and thank you for that appreciation.
You are right that when it comes to securing our borders, it is not a matter of the heart at all. It is an all out battle, and it's a battle for not only our border state governors but our country.
Thank you casinva!
Appreciate the information.
I doubt the Perry bashers will even bother reading. They’ll continue to bash and base their lack of support on ONE word uttered during a debate. That is so pathetic.
Agreed - nice links Cas
Excellent...thanks.
Then you basically have no candidate to vote for.
I hope you are talking about the primary, not the election there.
Perry called you heartless. Obama calls you brainless every day he is in power.
Thank you so much for posting this and the other information below.
This is great, thank you, I am forwarding all this information and links to others.
Thanks Shield, good point. Many could find it easy to get over this. Perry has the right idea of what to do.
