11-Year-Old Football Star Told Not to Score Too Many Touchdowns
Fox Nation ^ | September 29, 2011 | Tina Korbe, Hot Air

Demias Jimerson of Malvern, Ark., is 11 years old — and he’s so good at football that “he’s going to score almost every time he touches the ball,” according to his intermediate school principal, Terri Bryant.

In other words, he’s so good he must be stopped. Because Jimerson runs circles around the other kids on the field, Bryant has decided he’s not allowed to score more than three touchdowns, provided his team has at least a 14-point lead.

Why don’t they just give the ball to other kids more often, or put him on defense?

I’ve been to Malvern once... only once.

Maybe they can just swap which side he plays for at the end of each quarter?

An alternate would be to let him play with the older-kids team, but that carries more risk of injury.

And at some schools, when you beat the other team your record shows the other team’s score, so you won’t try for a blowout.

If you win 25 to 7, the record shows your score as 7, so next time you won’t try so hard, sparing the feelings of the other guys.

If these kids ever go to war they will be shocked to find that their enemies, who have been beating each other up and throwing rocks at tanks since they were 4, don’t always play fair, and sometimes try to win with inappropriate fervor.

I know towns in Illinois that thrive on mediocrity.

Please allow me:

“Excellence” through mediocrity.

(If anything has made America soft....it is leftist lunacy.)

Yes, I think there’s better ways than to just tell the kid to stop scoring.

“Why don’t they just give the ball to other kids more often, or put him on defense?”

Because that is common sense....and we already know how much of that is found in leftist “thinkers.”)

So beating on little kids until you destroy any heart left in them is a good conservative value?

Video of the kid. Says he doesn’t mind as God is his #1 priority followed by grades.

Well good for the Principal! We certainly do not want to teach young children how to face and possible overcome stiff opppsition. It just is not fair. So she did just the right thing , you know like we do when we go to war. The first thing we do is to ensure that both sides of the conflict are equalized. Same sized and equipted military.

Or in business, or in getting good grades. . . Oh yeah we already have that.

What a joke.....does the principal realize it is called a football TEAM. Yeah, he runs, he scores but there are people blocking, giving him the football etc.

I played on a team where the QB/RB was great, great enough to play in college and in the pros. We did not look at it as being diminished, we looked at it as helping him achieve and showcase his talent. We were part of the TEAM effort to win almost all our games by riding his superior talents.

Of course, that was during the era of individualism and reality in the US.

In this case, principal=jackass.

>>>They could always “Harrison Bergeron” him...<<<

That was my thought as well. A 25 lb. bag of birdshot strapped to the kid ought to keep him down to 3 or 4 TD’s per game.

Maybe the local high school could use a good 11 yr old running back?
