Sounds to me like a falling-down drunk who thought he was breaking into his own house when his key wouldn’t work.

At 82, he’s possibly lucky to be alive....period. What, however, does that have anything to do with the fact that he owned a handgun and knew how to use it to stop and hold a criminal thug?

When my wife was in Australia a few years ago visiting her sister and brother-in-law, they had a similar intruder incident at their home in Terrigal, NSW. While the intruder was just intoxicated, my wife was appalled that it took 20 minutes for police to arrive and the responding officers were two twenty something unarmed females. Aussis of course have been totally disarmed by their government.

My wife's sister, a liberal, said she felt so much less threatened by the incident because there were no guns in Australia. I reminded her that criminals still have the guns and unarmed officers showing up 20 minutes latter aren't much protection from a possibly armed intruder.
