Many of the Framers, Franklin among them, were completely fluent in French. Date of translation does not apply! A point so many silly twits simply cannot comprehend. I suppose they cannot conceive of the founders having a talent which they do not possess.

Vattel did not use the French phrase for “natural born citizen”. The word translated thus 10 years after the Constitution was “indigenes”, which has an English counterpart: indigenous.
