Drama all around.
The Dodgers need new OWNERSHIP not new management. I am willing to keep Don Mattingly on as manager. He sounds committed and the guys are motivated under his leadership. The team does not in any way totally suck. I don’t know how you could follow the past 3 months and say that.
Kershaw is up for Cy Young and Matt Kemp is up for MVP. Kemp has now tied Tommy Davis for all time high RBIs in one season, and hit 39 homers, one shy of making the 40-40 club.
In addition, our youth movement -— Jerry Sands, Justin Sellers, Dee Gordon -— looks very promising. The bullpen finally came together in the second half of the season and we have quality relievers in Kenley Jansen and Javy Guerra, among others.
The team is shaping up to be one of my favorite Dodger crews ever, and I go back to opening day, 1958.
I haven’t got over it yet and I doubt I ever will.

First thing they have to do is get rid of McCourt BADLY..once they get rid of him they can start bringing in some talent on this team that can surround Matt Kemp and others that we intend on keeping. I like Mattingly I hope they keep him too..I meant to say ownership not management so my mistake. Sucks that not only did the Dodgers go down but so did the Angels, who only have themselves to blame. They were only a 1 1/2 back from Texas and they blew it, they had it, they freakin had it, but in typical Angel fashion found a way to tank..now no baseball and no basketball either or so it seems
Okay, I got a little defensive, heh. Yes, Frank the Knife as I call him, is a perpetual nightmare. It’s all up to the courts and MLB at this point.
We could use another quality starter and a heavy-hitting third baseman and we’re good to go. Dodgers 2012!!!

I think the Dodgers will be in great shape next year once McCourt is gone, hopefully he is gone soon but the rumors about the Chinese buying the Dodgers is ridiculous and I hope that does not happen

Mike Napoli was one of my favorite Angels, also David Eckstein..the 2002 Championship team was one of the best Angels teams I have seen in a long time. Don’t know if they can repeat that
It was a pretty exciting night. Its worth noting that there has been talk of having two woldcards from each league. If that had happened last night we would have had none of that drama from last night.

Someday I'm going to study the issue and write about it. I think you can make the case that the Yankees are less likely to look for a trade than others, because of their strong farm system. From Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford to Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, the Yanks have always grown a great deal of talent in the minors.

Small market teams can win: see the A's, Marlins, Diamondbacks, and Rays. They just have to find their competitive advantage. Billy Beane found his with his analysis, and it worked.

I agree, and wouldn't that bring the baseball season almost into November? Ridiculous, if so.
Just from chatter I've heard on radio and ESPN, etc., it seems that MLB may be going ahead with this nonsense... probably with no input from actual baseball fans.
Amazing night... Tim Kurkjian and the Baseball Tonight guys are still in awe as of tonight (Thursday, Sept 29). It WAS awesome!
Now that the regular MLB season is over, I sadly won't be able to hear Vin Scully's voice until April 2012. The MLB "package" only gives us "Vin Scully games" when they feel like it - we can't get Prime Ticket here in CT.
Please keep me posted on any Vin Scully news, if possible, FRiend. May God continue to bless Vin with wonderful health. :-)

That's exactly what I said to my husband: This is "torture" like the SF Giants' fans called their team's adventures (and misadventures) on the way to the World Series in 2010. Of course the SF Giants won the WS in 2010, and the Red Sox never made it to the post season.
The Red Sox collapsed during the entire month of September. Worst September record since back in the 1920s. Even if they had won the Wild Card on Wednesday, I had no confidence that they could go far in the post season.

The Rays are - and have been for awhile - an exciting team. I like both the Rays and the Rangers - I'm not sure who to root for on Friday.
I'll be rooting for whatever team can beat the Yankees, of course! ;-)

I hope we learn more about what Terry Francona was alluding to when he mentioned at a press conference today that there were "camaraderie problems" in the Red Sox clubhouse. I wonder if that idiot Lackey was the #1 problem, as Curt Schilling hinted at tonight on ESPN's "Baseball Tonight"?
I don't know what Theo was thinking signing Lackey to that multi-million dollar, multi-year deal. I didn't like Lackey when he was with the Angels...
