"That would have been great for marketing this device in 1890.

A totally silly comment. There are a HUGE number of industries that need heat/steam. And the significance of the E-cat as a "front end" for a coal plant would be to reduce the total environmental impact of coal on a "grams of bad stuff per kilowatt of electricity generated". It could potentially allow those coal plants that currently don't meet local max pollutant levels and are about to be shut down to keep operating.

You don't know anything about manufacturing if you think manufacturers are burning coal to produce steam. Like I said, maybe in 1890 that was the case.

Your comments about coal-burning power plants have no relevance to my post.

And in the years of 2011 and beyond with the EPA attempting to put another "Clean Air" program in place thereby reducing the tons of carbon companies are permitted to annually expel into the atmosphere.

Perhaps you've heard of it. It's called "Cap and Trade"

If this 10/6 test is successful, coverage of the unveiling of the 1MW unit will become a big big deal in the news.

"It will be like opening night for David Copperfield or Uri Geller."

I really do hope the e-cat is for real. You know, world peace, new technology to revive the economy, solve globull warming and such.

But, I have more interest in this thing working just to read your excuses for why this is still a hoax even while using one to warm your home.

The only way I'll ever warm my home with one of those things is if it fits in my fireplace and it's combustible.

I find it interesting that Rossi always seems to me mainly preoccupied with “convincing” the “doubters”. If I had something that was half as good as what he claims to have, I’d just make the damned things and sell them. Failing that I’d make them, keep them and sell the electricity. If he truly has a better mousetrap, just get to work catching mice and enough already with all the demos, arguments about steam, etc. etc.

I think its actually very much the opposite. He has not run public demos for months despite clamor for those of us seeking more definitive evidence. He could have provided wide-open access and demos from day one, and yet we've been kept waiting the better part of a year despite all the naysaying and skepticism.

There are valid reasons to more or less ignore those of us in the peanut gallery, as you note. Proving oneself to random anonymous skeptics is way down the list of necessary activities to a successful product launch with an initial customer group unrelated to said skeptics. There is also the risk of giving away too much information to hostile competitors within the LENR field or from traditional energy companies. He has said he's working 16+ hour days, just as one might expect from someone in his situation.

My own impression is that he's virtually ignored the more close-minded skeptics (apart from a comment here or there), while giving a little bit, but only a little bit, of his attention to the more reasonable requests for public proof.

Your original post said ZIP about manufacturing. There are many non-manufacturing businesses that need steam/heat. Right now, they probably use natural gas or electricity (which may be generated by a coal-fired plant).

And the post you were responding to was EXACTLY about coal-fired power plants. Hence my response. Or did you just conveniently forget that??

“It could potentially allow those coal plants that currently don’t meet local max pollutant levels and are about to be shut down to keep operating.”

I quite agree but we know how this would eventually play out. The allowable levels limits would be lowered so that many or all coal fired plants would again be classified as ‘dirty polluters.’

The enviros and their political allies will simply alter the rules to suit their needs. The enviros need to feel morally superior and their political allies need the easy fund-raising and vote getting pitches.

I'm actually impressed by how thoroughly confused you've managed to become over a short response to a short post. Let me go ahead and quote the original post that I responded to:

B4Ranch: I seem to recall from months ago that Rossi had already said something about one possible usage of E-CAT was to pre-heat the intake water for a manufacturing plant up to 150 or 180 degrees, thereby reducing the amount of coal needed to accomplish steam for production.

I'm not really sure what to say at this point other than suggesting you re-read the entire very short series of short responses. It should take you about a minute.

B4Ranch, you've been pinged for courtesy because I'm a courteous guy.

Yeah, you're right. I mis-read B4's statement. I was trying to follow the thread at work during short breaks while juggling about six different tasks.
