An elk drunk from eating fermented apples in southern Sweden ended its binge by making off with a family's swing set and hiding it in the woods. Hunter in hand-to-hoof battle with angry elk (12 Sep 11) Drunken elk rescued from Swede's apple tree (7 Sep 11) 'Leffe the moose man' promises elk intimacy (6 Sep 11) A homeowner from Storebro in northern Kalmar County arrived home on Wednesday night to find his garden littered with bits of apple and other signs that an elk had been partying in his back yard, the local Östran and Barometern newspapers reported.
The concerned homeowner also discovered that the children's swing set which normally sat in the yard was missing.
The man immediately called police, who contacted a local hunter to track down the inebriated elk who was thought to possibly be injured.
Drunken elk are common in Sweden during the autumn season when fermenting apples are plentiful, both on the ground and hanging from the branches of trees which many Swedes have in their yards.
While police and the hunter failed to meet up with the prank-playing elk, they did eventually find the family's swing set, propped up in a tree deep in the woods about 500 metres from their home.
When you put it like that ...
... it has an unmistakable appeal.
Are you on Windows, or a Mac? On Windows, open an Explorer windows (right click on start button -> Explorer) and see if you have a new drive added. It may say something like "G:\USB" or "F:\DCMxxx". C: should be your hard drive, D: your CD-ROM/DVD. Anything else is either a restore partition or additional drive space.
Drill down until you hit the folder with all of the jpgs in it.
On a Mac, you can either open a Finder window and check on your desktop for a new icon indicating that you have another drive mounted on your machine. As above, drill down until you find the jpgs.
Yeah, barring a “Big Love” type weirdness in my life, my breeding days are done. ;-)
I have Windows 7. I also have an external hard drive where I try to store everything. I will do as you say, and if all else fails (OE, of course) I will email them to myself. If I can figure out how! LOL!
Thanks, guys!
Enjoy the wilds.
I’m trying to get James to compose a sentence, on the order of, “The Cub Scouts went to the Fire Station on Friday,” without telling him the exact words.
Good luck, Lady! James and James are entities unto themselves!
He did it, finally. Later I had a nap with Frank. Yesterday was a long, hard, day, and I just couldn’t get out the door except to the mailbox today.
We’re going to church tomorrow, so we’ll probably stop at the library in the same excursion. I have a reserve book in.
Ai-yiyi-yiyi!
I rescued a parakeet today. He had been left outside (in a cage) but since he is a tropical bird, he would have died, soon, with the cold weather.
He hasn’t told me his name, but he is mostly yellow, with some green. And he is quite a singer...I may have to give him up later, but I will keep him for a while and give him some stability.
*sheesh* I’m such a sucker for strays...
How nice to have a friendly pet!
*blush*
I just can’t allow an animal to be mistreated.
We will see how he does. Im sure he is contented here, as most rescues take about 24 hours before they begin to chatter. Some take longer.
He’s cool! Maybe he will tell me who he is tomorrow!
Maybe he hadn’t been out very long.
Tom’s handing out candy and stuff from the back of the truck, but he’s going to run out soon. We had fried fish and stuff for supper, and there’s pie for later.
Oh no, turbulence has been discovered, where will we end up?!
The woman who had him left him out on her patio, and the weather is just too cold for that. I got him, cage and all, and it is a mess. Newsprint on the bottom, lettuce, parsley and broccoli scattered all over...poor little guy.
I got him by accident, I think. Or maybe it was by Design. I was heading out to see a neighbor and get a ride to the PO, and another woman was going to ask someone else about it, but asked me instead, and I said I would take him.
No tricksters here. No one ever comes here to trick us. Except the Resident Malcontents.
