When First Lady’s were involved with subjects such as illiteracy and such, I did not have any problems with the activities.
What I do have a problem with his first ladies who get involved with food preparation and content, and want to pass intrusive legislation (and use their bully pulpit, such as it is to advance said legislation) that will limit my choices and limit my freedom.
As much as I detested Jimmy Carter, I couldn’t have cared less what Rosalyn Carter did while her husband did his damnedest to destroy an economy.
I DO care about what this woman is doing, because it is not so much in the background and is going to have an impact on my life.
I don’t care what her hairstyle looks like, I don’t care what her ugly ass fashions look like, but I don’t care that her physical appearance resembles the salt monster from a Star Trek episode.
What I do care about is her trying her damnedest to intrude into our lives, which she is doing.
I wish she would not show those stanky old underarms!
Shame that People made this story all about Moochelle’s photo-op instead of Barbara Marshall, who is serving her community.
Or...the “casual” glued back with a nubbin sticking out an elastic band like a 3 year old?

Me? If a FLOTUS gets involved in making public policy and starts affecting the way literally billions of tax payer $$$’s are spent? At that point I’m going to care, comment, take notes and make a stink. Not an elected position.
For fun, go to the WH website and see where the Let’s Move $$$ went to. Start with seeing it filtered through HHS...for a real laugh (just ONE of many) follow the $$$ to the Southern Nevada Health Department. See what they are using part of MILLIONS for....look at the PR or SOCIAL CHANGE agency they are using. I guarantee if you look into this, you will be beyond shocked. The agency is called Rescue SCG. Take a look if you have a strong stomach.

IIRC, most recipients of the largess of this particular traveling media circus of a production end up in worse shape a couple years later.

2000 volunteers converged on the area and in 90 hours... there stood the home where once was empty space. In what has become a pop cultural mantra, thousands screamed with Ty Pennington: “MOVE THAT BUS!!!”... and the single father, who was mentoring other single fathers in Camden, had an amazing home.
Then the bills began to arrive.
Extreme Makeover was out of the picture. No phone calls. No follow up help. The family, with children growing up, needed more and more money but it was all being put towards the home.
Here’s where community gets really good: Urban Promise continued to walk alongside this family all this time. It offered to buy the home (after 2 years, because I guess there are tax penalties if you sell an Extreme House before then), assist the father in downsizing to a home where he didn’t have to unscrew lightbulbs to make ends meet, and renovated the Extreme Home into a retreat centre.
A reporter followed up with the story, but she wasn’t with Extreme Makeover. Apparently, after doing some “Where Are They Now?” stories, she discovered this pattern of HUGE HELP... but only once. And the help and home are SO HUGE that the families they are supposed to be helping cannot afford to live in them.
I admit I’m ignorant about the show. I know of it, but never watched it.
Could somebody explain why the family has to have such a fancy house?
One of these THINGS was done in the Phx metro area. Just a mess, later.
I GET that you have 8 kids...but, really...if you are in need of charity...and would love a decent house...why something so fancy and expensive...when the reason you were chosen is because you had little money...
Oh. Forgot. This is liberal thought. Sorry.
