The Door is Wide Open (Palin's opportunity)
C4P ^ | 9-24-2011 | Doug Brady

After Thursday night’s debate, it’s more clear than ever that the door is more than cracked: It’s wide open. The two so-called frontrunners are both fatally flawed candidates. Mitt Romney is so utterly unmoored by anything approaching conservative convictions or, let’s face it, any convictions at all (other than his desire to be president) that it’s impossible for him to speak on an issue without contradicting the multiple positions he’s taken. Rick Perry, it’s increasingly clear, has his own issues and is simply not ready for prime time. William Kristol, after watching Thursday night’s “debate”, had one word to describe the current GOP field: “Yikes“:

Christie is a good executive. I like him here in NJ. But he's still a rookie. He will hopefully stick to his guns and not get sucked in. He needs to continue to serve here in NJ. The fact that his name comes up just shows how pathetically, embarrassingly, shockingly WEAK the GOP leadership pool is.

Now a guy who's never won statewide office (Cain) is going to get a crack at bat. Hopefully he does well. But it just shows how pathetic the GOP is. Totally inept.

“Sarah won’t be getting in now, she’d be stepping all over Herman and I seriously doubt she would do that.”

If she’s going to get in, I think the now-or-never point is soon at hand. Theoretically she can keep treading water for a long time, but if Cain starts rapidly building a head of steam (which would cement his standing as a “credible conservative candidate”) her entrance would create as much (or more) resentment as it would joy.

So you’re saying the Florida voters didn’t know who she is? LOL, nope, she’s done.

The ‘know-it-alls’ are gonna be on Herman like ducks on a june bug trying to destroy him!

And business savvy coupled with a docterate in mathematics would make dissecting FEDZILLA like child’s play. IMO, it could be CAIN/anybody

Nope not saying that at all. I do agree she's done and basically has been from when she through her bonnet in the ring.

I think it’s already too late. Herman will be a credible candidate if she will help him to raise funds, and I bet Sarah will do that. I can’t imagine her getting in now and stepping on Cain. I just don’t see it happening.

It would look good in the history books years from now that Cain became POTUS with Sarah Palin as VP.

Kinda sad to see Perry flame out and tumble from his sudden rise in popularity.

My guess is that Romney will quit soon. He won’t go against a black man and possibly a woman.

I think she was doing fairly well until the Guardasil thing. That was so hysterical and over the top I don’t think she stood a chance. She damaged Perry, but she destroyed herself doing it. I don’t know who was advising her but they must have been working for the Romney campaign.

nope, she’s done.

You know, they've said that about others too. They were wrong.

The race has just begun. Not all the runners are in place. Don't call the race before it has begun.

No. I don't know if she's running. But I also don't know who else may enter. Do you? No.

Sarah Palin runs she wins. No one else in the field has her campaigning skills. And no one else in the field (except Cain) really believes what they say. She does. and she can win. Palin/Cain 2012

There is a possibility that Christie might get in, but he has a worse problem with immigration then Perry, and worse, he supported the Ground Zero Mosque! Nope, that might work in New Jersey, but it won't go in fly over country. He would have the establishment backing now that it's obvious that Romney won't make it, but the people would be horrified once the dems started in on the things he's said about the people who opposed the Ground Zero Mosque etc.

Besides, he's not even a speck conservative except with money.

There's a possibility that Perry might recover and then I can see Sarah getting in, but other than that, I don't think she will.

Now let's see how he does in the snobby, elitist Northeast.

Perry maybe Texas Toast but Bachmann is the spread to put on it. She'll not recover as her campaign is in disarray, funding is kaput, skipping major events, etc don't lend itself to being a front runner.

Today for the first time, the GOP has an ascendant candidate who just might, possibly represent the sort of candidate Palin has obliquely referred to, as the right person.

I’m giving 50/50 odds now, whether Palin decides this is the moment to enter the race, vs. throwing her full support to Herman Cain.

Cain / Palin could rock the world, as we know it.

I really had high hopes for Bachmann...call me silly...but when she came out and wished Elvis a Happy Birthday on his death date...well i kinda figured something was wrong with her advisors...i don’t expect her to know that info off the top of her head...but come on...she is pretty evasive too when it comes to specifics...Perry and Mitt remind me of used car salesmen with politican hair....Ron Paul..eh..like some of his stances... Cain seems a little green on foreign affairs but maybe that is what we need...someone to look at it with common sense..he seems to have that...and he doesn’t seem to be afraid to say he made a mistake...unlike polished turd Mitt that has a slick answer for everyting...he wants the job too much....OK..that’s my take so far...i don’t post on FR much...also i will say, Race will be an issue with Cain...he will be brutalized by the left...just the way it is...go figure.

If she was, after the last election she would have gone back to Alaska, surrounded herself with foreign policy experts.

You mean Michael Glassner (current campaign manager) and Peter Schweizer (foreign policy) of the Hoover Institute?

and finished her term as Governor.

What was there to finish? After the 2008 elections, the Democratic legislatures shut her off from any legislative intitiatives while the Republican legislatures wanted her out so they could return to the “CBC” system (corrupt bastards club).

In early 2009, she was doing nothing but fighting off bogus ethics charges (aka: “The Alaskan Mudflats”) and spending over 500k in legal bills. Some of the filers were out of state and some didn’t even used their real name. The cost to them if a charge was dismissed...zero. The state, on top of Palin’s expenses, had spent nearly 3 million in investigation expenses. In essance, they were driving Palin to bankruptcy while tarnishing her record.

Where was McCain? Where was the GOP leadership? Where was the rank-and-file? NOWHERE!!! They left Palin out to rot. Many supposed “conservatives” just turned their backs and walked away. This is one of the many reasons why Palin owes the establishment nothing!

If she stayed, it could of been over 1 million in legal fees. They were forcing her to bankruptcy. Also, the complaints were on page one but the dismissals were on page 35, section 3, paragraph 5. They were also trying to smudge her image. Ironic, the SAME people who wanted her out were now griping that she resigned!!!

Palin played a big role in the 2010 elections. She has earned a lot of IOUs. She has acted as a rally point for the Tea Party base and is the voice for those who crave for a conservative voice in the wilderness.

Palin has been wise to wait. The front runners are bashing themselves silly and getting vetted. The secondary players are getting squeezed out or imploding. Her time is coming.

She is running and it’s driving the esblishment nuts. They’re even trying to push christie into the fray. My GAWD, has it come down to this!!! Are the GOP elites that desperate to thwart Palin???

I agree about Christie. That's not gonna fly.

But I think it's too soon to rule out anyone. We've already had some surprises and candidates have done and said stupid stuff. I think that it's going to get even more interesting. I'm happy that Cain won the Fla straw poll. He's a good man.
