ABC news says it was a lie, that he met with the girl after the executive order. Story seems to have disappeared and not gain any legs. What is the truth? Has the Perry team denied the ABC story? I can look past the issue of the vaccine as an admitted mistake and write off immigration as a single issue disagreement and vote for the guy based on the fact that he is better than Romney, but if he lied about that story, it is a dealbreaker.

Funny that there are none of the usual Perry SP@M threads being posted this morning. Seems that a bunch of new supporters suddenly jumped ship after he called them “heartless” last night.

Perry spokesman Mark Miner denies that Perry spoke disingenuously about Burcham’s role in the process, but concedes that Perry did not meet Burcham until after signing the executive order.

If the story is 100% true, it’s still a problem in that it shows Perry making policy for the whole state based on the case of one distraught family.

Perry doesn’t think fast on his feet, stumbles a little and has trouble stringing coherent sentences together. Maybe the Texas accent gets in the way, but his debate skills are lacking. And it’s not just ‘Mr. Smith goes to Washington’. He sounds as if he’s just come around to some of his conservative positions. What’s this about his thinking (in the past), that Mexican/Texas healthcare might be worth exploring? I don’t trust him.

People don't like Perry mostly because of his stand on immigration, so they'll try to hit him with everything else, too. BUT....when it comes to Romney, he has Romneycare (the prelude to Obomacare) as well as running a sanctuary state when he was governor.
Out of the two - it's Perry hands down. Romneycare is far more oppressive than an op-out vaccine, and a sanctuary state (protecting illegals) if far worse than college tuition (only protecting the kids who broke no law themselves).
If it does come down to these two, it's Perry all the way. Romney tries to be anti-politician, but he's one of the most two faced politicians I've ever seen in my life! He's got flip-flopping down to a science!

Perry's story is that HE'S OVER!!!

He wasn't even competent enough to take out romney with romneycare hanging around his neck. How terrible is that?!?

Perry was a bigger disappointment that I expected.

He said he had been lobbied on the issue by a 31-year-old woman dying of cervical cancer. It was a rhetorical island of success in the stormy weather. Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer singled it out as the governor's best moment. But Perry has a problem. He met with the woman after he made the decision to put the executive order in place. So it couldn't have influenced his decision, as he suggested in the debate.

The local conservative radio guy was talking about this as well this a.m. It seems the issue is when Perry ‘met’ the woman in question. It is entirely possible that they were in communication (phone/e-mail) with each other before the legislation was signed, but didn’t actually meet in person until later.

So right now, I’m willing to give him the benefit of a doubt. I’ve got lot more reasons to not be for him than this. However, I think it’s interesting that if they were in contact with each other before meeting, that his people didn’t come out and say so.

The timeline is that the EO preceded the "lobbying."

Perry's "it wasn't a lie" defense is that he said nothing about the time order of events, only that he was "lobbied."

Its amazing that in all of America there isn’t 100? 1000? solid conservatives who could challenge Ibama???

he admitted to doing coke? So, past indiscretions shouldn’t be an obstacle. Admit to own and apologize for being younge and foolish.

My 13 year old niece could challenge Obama using nothing but his quotes and a handful of job numbers?

When a conservative runs he is taking on more than just the President ..he is taking on the entire weaselly pro-socialist press as well.
That needs to be part of the formula.
openly mock and attack the press every step of the way.

Yes, he met with her after the executive order ... but during the legislature’s debate on overturning the order from Perry.

Maybe if we can get some families of those murdered, robbed and raped by illegals, he’ll stop feeding that deadly invasion.

This vaccine thing is stupid and won’t hurt him any more. Michelle already cut her own throat with it. We need to hear what he is going to do to the whole Nation with free loading illegals if he is elected. We need to hear from them all - especially Newt, Cain and Romney.
